KT Update! Pickups & Casting

Happy Halloween everyone, I hope you caught The Great Pumpkin last night. I’ve got lots of scoopage so let’s not waste any time!

Let’s start off with Cancellation Watch ’07. The first show of the season was cut last week when Viva Laughlin was cancelled after ONE SHOWING!!! Holy snikes, I think that is a new record. Most shows go at least 3 episodes. Anyhoo, most of you probably won’t even miss it since it came & went so fast. And, now that it is gone, The Amazing Race will be coming back sooner…Yay!!

Surprisingly, Viva Laughlin is the only one that’s bitten the dust so far. But, on the bright side, we do have some full season orders to talk about. Private Practice, Samantha Who? (which I’m loving by the way), Pushing Daisies, Back to You and Big Bang Theory have all received full seasons.

Additional scripts (which means we “tentatively like you”) have been ordered for Journeyman, Bionic Woman, Reaper, Carpoolers, Moonlight (seriously??), K-ville, Chuck and Dirty, Sexy Money. Still no word on Aliens in America, Big shots, Cavemen and Women’s Murder Club (although I hear it is just a matter of time for WMC as it is kicking ass over on Fridays). Actually, they are swapping Men in Trees (now 8PM Fri) and WMC (now 9PM Fri). I’m not really sure why they did this. Hopefully Men in Trees will whoop Moonlight’s ass. I can’t believe people are really watching that show. Oh, and (of course) I’m fearing the worst for FNL. It is getting beat by the aforementioned horrendous Moonlight & Women’s Murder Club. I doubt it will get another season (if it even makes it to midseason). Here’s hoping some Golden Globe love will save the show.

In other scheduling news, ABC is mixing up Mondays. Samantha Who? Is going to move to 9, followed by Notes From the Underbelly & October Road (although October Road is premiering Thurs, Nov. 22 @10)…wacky tv execs, way to confuse everyone!

In some fun casting news, two of my WB favorites will be making appearances at Seattle Grace. Seth Green will stop by as a patient and then my dear Pacey Whitter will be joining the cast as a doctor! Oh please oh please make my pacey a cast regular!

The fall tv season has pretty much settled in & I am enjoying a pretty high number of shows. I’ve really only cut Back to You & Moonlight, although I am dangerously close to cutting Bionic Woman. I feel like it has so much potential but I just can’t drum up any emotional connection to Jaime. This season there are really only 3 shows that I MUST SEE each week and even those I don’t LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. I mean, I am emotionally attached to Brothers & Sisters, Greys, and FNL, but it is not attachment like the old days of Buffy, Angel & Veronica. Oh, and I just realized I left Heroes out of that list. I don’t even love that like I use too. Maybe I’ve just been burned one too many times. Anyhoo, Fall sweeps is dangerously close (hooray November) and once that is over I’ll hand out my report card for the fall season so far.

Ooohhh Ooooh and January is right around the corner. You know what that means! Lost and 24! Check out the trailer for Season 7 of 24 at http://www.24trailer.com/ (oh no soul patch tony!!) All you jack bauer haters better watch it! I’d say 2 iffy seasons out of 7 is still a pretty good track record and I’ll be tuning in. Oh no, which means I’m going to have a triple conflict with 24, Samantha Who? & Heroes!!!

Finally, continuing the comic book hero trend, Greg Berlanti has been tapped to do Green Lantern (did you know Seth Rogen is doing The Green Hornet? I can't keep all these superhero movies straight). Are you all furrowing your brows because you don’t who the crap Greg Berlanti is? Well he is the creator of Everwood and Jack & Bobby. He’s also the executive producer of Brothers & Sisters and Dirty, Sexy, Money; so I’m quite interested to see what his take on the comic book movie is.

That’s all for me folks!
