Hello, hello. I’m sorry it has been a while since my last update, but there hasn’t really been too much going on. But now I feel like I have sufficient information to share with you. So let’s begin, shall we?
Let’s start off with the best thing I’ve heard in quite a while. My friend Shannon, who lives in California, reported to me that her boyfriend saw THE WHEDON in the grocery store! EEEEE! That’s enough to make a girl piddle. That’s why I can’t live in LA. I would have a heart attack with all the famous people I would see (or I’d be arrested for being a stalker). But how awesome is that? Frankie didn’t talk to the Whedon but promises that if he sees him again will talk about Firefly. EEE! In related Whedon news, the Whedon has just confirmed that he will be directing an episode of The Office. That’s all very nice & fun, but where is the Buffy comic?? And for the love of god what about Wonderwoman? Let’s get on it!!!
In other tv news, as many of you know, The O.C. has been cancelled, the final episode will air on Feb. 22. I was a casual fan of the show, I flirted with fandom there in Season 2 for a bit but the show lost my attention pretty quickly. But I do feel for all of the devoted fans who will lose their show.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dangerously close to the new 24! Can’t wait for Jack Bauer Power Hour!! I heard the 2 day 4 hour premiere is awesome and that something super jaw dropping will take place in the 4th hour. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I tried really, really hard to fight the power. I refused to get sucked in to the hysteria that has most of you, but damn Lifetime started airing the first season of Grey’s Anatomy and I couldn’t help myself, I watched. And I liked. Man, Patrick Dempsey is such a hottie! So, I’m going to get myself all caught up on Seasons 1 & 2 and maybe next year I’ll be able to watch Season 3 before the new season premieres. Bah! I hate getting sucked in.
New Music!
Wow, it has been a long time since I’ve talked about new music. This year for Christmas Santa brought me the new Killers cd, which I am enjoying. I also purchased the latest OKGO cd, which I like a lot and is much more than just “the treadmill song”. Truthfully though, the artist that has been owning my IPOD as of late is Corrine Bailey Rae. Who the heck is Corrine Bailey Rae you might ask? Well, she is a British singer that is starting to break out in the U.S.
She was the musical guest a few weeks back on Studio 60 and I really liked her music. Her music has kind of an old school vibe. It is very sensual & smooth. Anyhoo, I think you should check her out on Itunes or myspace.
Reviews Sponsored by Netflix
Rating Scale (* Eh, ** Good, but I don’t need to watch it again, *** Great, ****One of my favorites)
Well, A History Of Violence has been sitting on my entertainment center since March! Yikes can you believe that? I finally got around to watching it and definitely enjoyed it. Things moved pretty quickly and wow, there was a wee bit of violence (and a CRAZY sex scene) but definitely an interesting movie. **1/2
By the way, did I ever mention that I finally watched The Squid and The Whale? One word for that movie, uncomfortable. *
Weeds-Look at Showtime, all grows up! Actually, I’m kinda of bitter because I’m getting Showtime for free right now & Weeds isn’t on! This show is spectacular. It follows a suburban house wife that becomes a pot dealer after her husband dies ( so she can make ends meet). Mary Louise Parker is outstanding and deserves all the accolades she’s been getting. Other stand out performances include Kevin Nealon and Elizabeth Perkins (who you know as Tom Hanks girlfriend in Big). Season 1 is out on dvd right now and I can’t recommend it enough. ****
In Theaters
One of the groups I joined in NC often has free movie screenings (that’s how I got to see Rocky Balboa). Last week Jay & I ventured out to see Freedom Writers. This is not a movie that I had any interest in seeing, but hey, its free right? It is pretty much exactly like it looks, just like Dangerous Minds. I thought the kids had a lot of heart and I felt for many of them, but Hilary Swank was annoying. The movie was pretty good, but I wouldn’t recommend paying $8 to see it and I probably won’t ever watch it again. **
Award season is upon us. The Golden Globes are next Monday and the SAG nominations have been announced, which means that Oscar noms are not too far behind. Honestly, I’m not very excited about it this year. Maybe it is because I haven’t seen any of the movies, but I don’t know. I find myself very blah about it all this year. What’s wrong with me??
Anyhoo, that’s all for me today. I’m sure you’ll be hearing from me next week after the Golden Globes and the 2 night premiere of Jack Bauer!
