Hello all! Golden Globe nominations were this morning but I have a few other stories & tidbits to go through first.
Today Jay & I went for our NC license. I’ve been driving for 13 years so I think it is a bit ridiculous that a state that allows people to sit in the bed of a pick up truck makes me take a written test, but that’s the way it goes. Anyhoo, I felt very confident going into the test & even got a little excited when I saw that the test is on a computer a la the excellent Corey Haim movie, License to Drive. There are 25 questions, you have to get 20 right to pass. You can skip questions as long as you end up with 20 right. So I was moving right along, flying through the test with one wrong and 19 right when I got 4 in a row wrong!!!!!! Suddently I’m sweating and all I can think of is that stupid Corey Haim movie and how it said it big ugly letters across the screen YOU FAIL!!!!!!! So it comes down to the final question and really, it is a toss up. Here is the question. You you’re your brakes. Do you: A. shift into neutral & use the emergency brake or B. shift into a lower gear & use the emergency brake. (the third option was definitely wrong)…Thank God I looked through the manual, because I remember thinking, wow, if you shifted into another gear you’d mess up your transmission! And praise Jesus I passed the exam. I seriously would have crawled into a hole if I had failed.
In other news, my new friend Jules invited me to a sneak preview of the new Rocky movie. Honestly, I really wasn’t interested in seeing the movie (at all) but I like Jules & there were going to be some other people for the Go Charlotte Social Club there so I figured, what the heck. Plus it was free. So the lights go down, the music starts, 5 minutes later, I’m completely sucked in. I don’t know how much everyone knows about the storyline, so I won’t speak specifics, but the first hour & a half are pretty depressing. Poor Rocko. I mean, they go so far with the beaten down dog scenario that Rocky even adopts a pitiful, beaten down dog. Of course when he starts training and the music starts it is insane. You get all excited…I couldn’t help myself!! And of course the obligatory running up of the museum steps….awww philly I miss you!!! And then the fight and the cheering and before you know it I’m on the edge of my seat, “Rocky! Rocky! Rocky!” So yeah, there it is, a glowing review & endorsement for the sixth Rocky movie. Who woulda thunk it?
TV news! Here are a few return dates for you all:
Lost, Feb. 7; Grey's Anatomy, Jan. 4; Heroes, Jan. 22; Desperate Housewives, Jan. 7; Ugly Betty, Jan. 4; Gilmore Girls, Jan. 23; Veronica Mars, Jan. 23; Prison Break, Jan. 29; Smallville, Jan. 11; 24, Jan. 14 eeeeeeee! Jack Bauer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you guys hear that Prince will be performing at the Superbowl halftime show? Honestly, I haven’t been impressed by a halftime show for a while, hopefully Prince can kick it up a notch.
So today was the Golden Globe nominations. As has been the case in recent years, I haven’t seen many of these movies so I can’t comment. Although I did think it was interesting that Matt Damon didn’t get nominated (for the Departed or The Good Shepard) and George Clooney didn’t get nominated for his new flick. Also, no James Gandolfini. See below for nominations & the KT comments.
BEST MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA
BABEL
BOBBY
THE DEPARTED
LITTLE CHILDREN
THE QUEEN
Babel is supposedly depressing, Bobby got destroyed by critics (I’m a little surprised it got nominated), The Queen is all about Diana’s death and all I know about Little Children is that my favorite actress, Kate Winslet is in it. The Departed is the favorite I would say, and if I can get the guts to watch it (a wee bit violent I heard) then I’ll let you know.
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA
PENÉLOPE CRUZ -VOLVER
JUDI DENCH - NOTES ON A SCANDAL
MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL - SHERRYBABY
HELEN MIRREN-THE QUEEN
KATE WINSLET -LITTLE CHILDREN
Here’s a shocker, I haven’t seen any of these, but thanks to my EW subscription I know that Helen Mirren, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Kate Winslet have lots of buzz. I’m saying Helen Mirren takes it unless Gyllenhaal can stage an upset.
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA
LEONARDO DICAPRIO-BLOOD DIAMOND
LEONARDO DICAPRIO-THE DEPARTED
PETER O’TOOLE -VENUS
WILL SMITH -THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS
FOREST WHITAKER-THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND
I don’t like when an actor is nominated for two roles in the same category. I don’t mind so much if it is different categories, but you mean to tell me that out of all the performances of the whole year you think Leo had two of the best? Doubtful. That being said I am rooting for him for The Departed, although I’m going to see The Pursuit of Happiness tomorrow and that could change my mind (since ya know, I haven’t seen the Departed)
BEST MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY OR MUSICAL
BORAT
THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA
DREAMGIRLS
LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE
THANK YOU FOR SMOKING
I’ve only seen The Devil Wears Prada and I’m not going to endorse it as the winner (although I did enjoy it). I think this race should come down to Borat vs. DreamGirls. Everyone I know who saw Borat absolutely loved it. It depends if DreamGirls goes the way of Chicago or Rent.
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY OR MUSICAL
ANNETTE BENING-RUNNING WITH SCISSORS
TONI COLLETTE-LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE
BEYONCÉ KNOWLES-DREAMGIRLS
MERYL STREEP-THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA
RENEE ZELLWEGER -MISS POTTER
Annette Benning & Toni Collette are two of my favorites but I have to go with Meryl Streep in this one, she was phenomenal in Prada. Oh and I hate Beyonce.
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY OR MUSICAL
SACHA BARON COHEN-BORAT
JOHNNY DEPP-PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN’S CHEST
AARON ECKHART - THANK YOU FOR SMOKING
CHIWETEL EJIOFOR - KINKY BOOTS
WILL FERRELL-STRANGER THAN FICTION
Wow, I’m starting to think this was a really bad year for movies. Johnny Depp? Really? And the worse part is that I can’t even think of anyone to put in his place because I don’t think I saw 5 movies in the theater this year .Pirates of the Carribean, Rocky Balboa, The Da Vinci Code, Devil Wears Prada, Talladega Nights---now that was a comedy. Dang it Sacha Baron Cohen was already nominated in this category as was Will Ferrell!--- ok so I saw 5 movies in the theater!! What is happening to me!! What happened to the days of 5 movies in a month!!! Wow, ok so that’s why the nominations are not impressing me, this year STANK!!!
BEST ANIMATED FEATURE FILM
CARS
HAPPY FEET
MONSTER HOUSE
Didn’t see any of these but I heard that Happy Feet was awesome.
BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM
APOCALYPTO (USA)
LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA (USA/JAPAN)
THE LIVES OF OTHERS (GERMANY)
PAN’S LABYRINTH (MEXICO)
VOLVER (SPAIN)
Ummmmm.
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A MOTION PICTURE
ADRIANA BARRAZA-BABEL
CATE BLANCHETT-NOTES ON A SCANDAL
EMILY BLUNT- THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA
JENNIFER HUDSON-DREAMGIRLS
RINKO KIKUCHI- BABEL
The next two are probably the most hotly contested categories. I think I’ve heard buzz on everyone in this one, though I’m going Jennifer Hudson. I want her to ROCK the Oscars baby. She was robbed on American Idol (I think that was the moment I stopped watching Idol)
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A MOTION PICTURE
BEN AFFLECK- HOLLYWOODLAND
EDDIE MURPHY- DREAMGIRLS
JACK NICHOLSON-THE DEPARTED
BRAD PITT-BABEL
MARK WAHLBERG-THE DEPARTED
Yikes! This is a hard one! Barring performances, (cause I haven’t seen any!) I’m still torn because you all know I love a comeback (Affleck, Murphy) but I also love when someone finally gets some acclaim (Pitt, Wahlberg). Pretty much I will be happy so long as it is not Nicholoson. I don’t know how you become an acclaimed actor by playing the same personality type over and over. So let’s break this down. I’m a little mad at Eddie Murphy for saying that Scary Spice’s baby isn’t his (although maybe she is just a slut) but I think it comes down to Wahlberg vs. Affleck. I mean can you beat Calvin Klein boxer briefs vs. Gigli? I don’t care which of these two win.
Alrighty, let’s get into some categories where I can make real judgements!!
BEST TELEVISION SERIES – DRAMA
24 (FOX)
BIG LOVE (HBO)
GREY’S ANATOMY (ABC)
HEROES (NBC)
LOST (ABC)
Overall I’m not too upset, although I am surprised by the absence of Studio 60 and Brothers & Sisters. For me, this has to be 24. Frikkin unbelievable last year (although I wouldn’t throw anything at the tv if Heroes won).
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A TELEVISION SERIES – DRAMA
PATRICIA ARQUETTE-MEDIUM
EDIE FALCO-THE SOPRANOS
EVANGELINE LILLY- LOST
ELLEN POMPEO-GREY’S ANATOMY
KYRA SEDGWICK-THE CLOSER
As I’ve said before, Falco was stellar last year on The Sopranos and Sedgwick is The Closer. I’m a little eh-eh about Evangeline Lilly & Ellen Pompeo. I’m not a Grey’s fan, but from what I’ve heard from those that are, is that Pompeo’s character is annoying. So yeah, Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars) could have taken either spot. Oh yeah and what about Sally Field? I can’t believe she was ignored!! She is one of my favorite parts of Brothers & Sisters!
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A TELEVISION SERIES – DRAMA
PATRICK DEMPSEY- GREY’S ANATOMY
MICHAEL C. HALL- DEXTER
HUGH LAURIE-HOUSE
BILL PAXTON-BIG LOVE
KIEFER SUTHERLAND-24
I’m all about Kiefer baby. I’m over House, soooo over House. I wouldn’t Patrick Dempsey (being a comeback and all) and I still love Michael C. Hall even though he’s moved to showtime to a show I can’t watch because it is about being a serial killer!!!
BEST TELEVISION SERIES – COMEDY OR MUSICAL
DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES (ABC)
ENTOURAGE (HBO)
THE OFFICE (NBC)
UGLY BETTY (ABC)
WEEDS (SHOWTIME)
It is quite a shame that Scrubs was denied this year because I really thought last year was FRIKKIN HYSTERICAL (Donald Faison is so overdue for a nomination somewhere!!!) That being said, I’m going to say that Ugly Betty will take it because the Hollywood Foreign Press is wacky like that. I would pick Entourage although truthfully, I’ve only heard good things about Weeds and everyone loves The Office.
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A TELEVISION SERIES –COMEDY OR MUSICAL
MARCIA CROSS-DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES
AMERICA FERRERA-UGLY BETTY
FELICITY HUFFMAN-DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES
JULIA LOUIS-DREYFUS-THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE
MARY-LOUISE PARKER-WEEDS
So I’m going to guess that between Weeds & Ugly Betty, whoever didn’t win the previous award will take this one. I though I’m hoping for Marcia Cross, she hasn’t won anything yet and is so deserving! Actually, this race could go anywhere, any one of these ladies could take it.
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A TELEVISION SERIES – COMEDY OR MUSICAL
ALEC BALDWIN-30 ROCK
ZACH BRAFF-SCRUBS
STEVE CARRELL-THE OFFICE
JASON LEE -MY NAME IS EARL
TONY SHALHOUB-MONK
Hmm, is Alec Baldwin really a lead on 30 Rock? I thought he was more of a supporting. And hey, do you think Studio 60 got put into comedy or drama? Cause I can’t believe Matthew Perry & Bradley Whitford were denied!! WTF!! No more Tony Shalhoub! I want Baldwin to take it because I think it would be a funny acceptance speech (although you know I’m secretly praying for Braff to win).
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A SERIES, MINI-SERIES OR MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION
EMILY BLUNT-GIDEON’S DAUGHTER
TONI COLLETTE- TSUNAMI, THE AFTERMATH
KATHERINE HEIGL-GREY’S ANATOMY
SARAH PAULSON-STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP
ELIZABETH PERKINS- WEEDS
Once again I will voice my disdain at grouping series tv with made for tv movies. Not fair!! Again, not speaking as someone who actually watches the show, but I’m surprised that Katherine Heigl is here instead of Sandra Oh. Uh, I guess I’ll go with Sarah Paulson as she is the lone Studio 60 nomination.
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A SERIES, MINI-SERIES OR MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION
THOMAS HADEN CHURCH-BROKEN TRAIL
JEREMY IRONS- ELIZABETH I
JUSTIN KIRK- WEEDS
MASI OKA-HEROES
JEREMY PIVEN-ENTOURAGE
Booo no Donald Faison (Scrubs)! Boooo no Neil Patrick Harris!!! This is a tough one. Well, The Piv has won before so let’s go with fan favorite Masi Oka.
So that’s the Golden Globes everyone. They air in January the week before the Oscar nominations get announced! I’ll be around when more scoop emerges! Til then, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!!

KT! Update-Britney, Please!!
Hello everyone!
NC is going well. For those of you that haven’t heard I’m getting to stay on at Verispan, which is great because: 1. I like the work 2. I get to keep all my vacation 3. They’ll fly me home 4x a year for quarterly meetings! Fun Times!
In other news, Jay & I made our first friends this weekend. I’ve joined all kinds of groups and Saturday night we finally went out to meet up with a couple I met through an online social club. They were awesome! To sum up: They are British, they like cheese, sports, & cocktails!! Yay! So now jay has a friend to talk sports and I have a friend to eat cheese & drink wine with!
Ok so let’s get into some gossip.
First, it is time for a Britney intervention. For the love of God, I’ve been waiting patiently for her to get rid of K-Fed and when she finally does she decides to go our whoring with Paris Hilton? Then she gets photographed going commando and is allegedly already dating someone new! BRITNEY!!! Get into the studio and cut all this other crap out. Go to the studio during the day & then go home to your kids at night. Stop ruining yourself! I keep hoping & hoping that you straighten yourself out but you are killing me! Anyhoo, the other day on her website Brit posted that she had been “locked away for 2 years and was finally cutting loose.” She said that she probably (um, probably) went a little too crazy but that she was fine. Whatever, personally I think it is a bit tacky to be making out with a guy in public when you’ve been separated for less than a month but that’s just me. And check this out. All of Britney’s men are connected. K-Fed was a dancer in one of Juju’s videos. Her new man, some producer named Jr, produced K-Fed’s record!!!
This Thursday is the Golden Globe nominations! This pretty much marks the beginning of award season. I tend to get most upset at the Golden Globes because they are supposed to be the less severe of the award shows. If Kristen Bell is going to get nominated, it is at this show. So I’ll watch the nominations and see if I am pleasantly surprised or throwing things at the TV at 8:45 am.
Netflix Movie Reviews
With reruns in high gear Jay & I have getting back into the Netflix swing.
Superman. Ok so, I thought the film was great visually, but eh, I just couldn’t get into the movie. I really didn’t hate Kate Bosworth as much as I though I would, but I didn’t love anyone either. I know part of it is that I immediately think of Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder & Gene Hackman….but I also feel like the movie was lacking. It was lacking the chemistry, charisma and magic of the earlier supermans. So yeah, not a terrible movie, but not an especially good one either.
X-Men 3. I liked this movie a lot. I’m not an original X-Men fan, so I don’t have all that comic book baggage. But I liked that some of the main characters got killed off, and that some of them decided to use the cure. Plus I thought the action was good. And finally, the last 25 seconds (and the last 20 seconds of the credits) were awesome. Made me all excited for another X-Men movie.
Celeb Couple news!
Did you guys know that Scary Spice & Eddie Murphy were dating? Wow, I didn’t. Actually they aren’t dating anymore but Spice is knocked up & she’s claiming that Murphy is the baby’s daddy. Murphy said that he wouldn’t take responsibility for anything until he saw a blood test. Wow, either Eddie Murphy is a dick, or Spicey is really Slutty.
Apparently Lance & his boyfriend Reichen are breaking up & making up. They officially broke up last week, but I’ve heard rumors that they are trying to work through it. My two cents, Lance is better off without him. Remember the Tobin sisters reported that at the Survivor event in July Reichen was all over other boys. Lance doesn’t need that! Lance should go hook up with Doogie!
Jence or Vennifer or Vaguhnastin or whatever stoopid name they were calling them, Jennifer Aniston & Vince Vaughn have officially called it quits.
TV Scoop
When Lost returns in January it will move to the 10PM slot. Thank god for tivo because this is entirely too late for me to stay up. In addition, ABC is grouping Lost with 2 comedies; an odd match if you ask me. The two new comedies are “In Case of Emergency” and “The Knights of Prosperity”. Remember way back in the beginning of the year, I mentioned The Knights of Prosperity. This show has potential; it is about a bunch of thieves making a plan to rob Mick Jagger. In Case of Emergency sounds a little sketchy. Interesting cast though, it includes: David Arquette, Jason Silverman, Kelly Hu, Greg Germann and Lori Loughlin. The show is about of bunch of people who meet while at an Emergency Room. Uhhh, ok.
In other news, 80’s favorite Rick Schroeder will join the cast of 24 this year. He’ll be a bad ass CTU agent. NICE! Catch the 2 night premiere of 24 on Jan 14 & 15.
That’s all for now folks! I’ll be back Thursday with thoughts on the Golden Globe nominations!!!

KT Update- Sweeps Report Card
Ok kiddies, sweeps are pretty much over which means that you better renew your Netflix subscription because it is REPEAT TIME!!! After this week, most shows will go off until the new year. Did everyone enjoy sweeps? Well keep reading for my report card. I was a little shocked to see who got the highest grades.
Sweeps Report Card
How I Met Your Mother Mondays, CBS 8PM
This is the one “traditional” sitcom I still watch. I thought sweeps were highly amusing. The show never ceases to give my brothers & I a weekly catchphrase. We were quite fond of “lawyered” from last year, but during sweeps came “Swarley” and we have been all over it. If you don’t watch the show, I can’t explain. Anyhoo, I didn’t think it could get better than Swarley, but then the next week we learned that Robin was a teen pop star in Canada! Robin Sparkles! Holy crap I was dying. So yeah. I love this show. Sweeps Grade. B
Heroes Mondays, 9PM NBC
Wow. I’ve been completely enthralled in this show. Truth be told, I was a little let down by the whole “Save the Cheerleader, Save the World” episode—I thought things got tidied up too quickly. Peter & Sylar didn’t even really get into it & there is a theory that Peter is the only person who can bring Sylar down since he mooches off of other heroes’ powers. But I did like that Eden & the Haitian used Jedi Mind Trick on Sylar and that he is now in Claire’s dad’s possession. I really enjoyed last night’s episode, especially for Nathan, because it shows why he is so guarded about his ability. It made him abandon his wife right before the crash, leaving her paralyzed & him fine. It was also interesting to see how Sylar became a brain eater or whatever the hell he is. Oh and it was killing me all night where I’ve seen Sylar before. Dave pointed out that Sylar use to work at CTU-but that was Season 3 & I’ve tried to block that all out. I know Sylar from the VH-1 Tori Spelling show So Notorious. He was Tori’s gay buddy! Yay! I feel much better now that I have the placed him. All very interesting & enjoyable. Great Scott!! A-
Prison Break Mondays, 8PM Fox
I have tried to fight the power people. Truth be told, if it wasn’t for Jay I never would have watched this show past last year’s finale. But, and it pains me to say this, I’m glad I have continue to watch. The show is still completely absurd, but I love that you never know what is going to happen. I mean really, this show does not play. There are so many twists and turns and the show is constantly reinventing itself. Since the premiere we’ve lost Tweener (aww he kinda grew on me this year), Sara’s father and, crap, what was the Mob dude? Not to mention Veronica got shot in the head during the first episode!!! Now Bellick is back in Fox River as an inmate in Gen Pop…we can just start a pool on how long he is going to last. Sucre is all alone in the desert, Sara has choppy hair and no cell phone, C-Note is left alone with his daughter (his poor wifey off to jail), T-Bag has finally found the woman who betrayed him (hello? Um, when a molestor/murderer shows up at your door-and you’ve pissed him off—wouldn’t you slam the door immediately as you saw his face? Or I’ll do you one better, wouldn’t you check through your eye hole when you know the angry molester/murdered has escaped from prison??? ) Moving on. I’ve really enjoyed the character of Alex. They have moved his character right along, (when he shot Tweener I was like whaaaaa?) and I love that he is in over his head. Ahh and yes, my favorite. Agent Kellerman. I hated his guts last year but he has grown on me like fungus. I think it was when he pretended to be a gay alcoholic to get close to Sara. And now he has gone completely renegade and I love it. I’m interested to see how Linc handles my favorite secret agent seeing as how Kellerman is responsible for all of LJ’s problems…I mean the man did kill his baby’s mama. Oh am I forgetting someone? Of course I love Linc & Scoffield too. I especially love how Linc is wanted for murder but refuses to be incognito…I was happy just to have him finally button his shirt. I mean for the love of God, Michael at least put a baseball cap on!!!! So to sum up, the show is still choc full of little things that will bug me to no end, like how EVERYONE recognizes the escapees, but it is so fun I can’t help myself!! A
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip Mondays, 10PM NBC
So, when I watch this show, I generally enjoy it. The characters are likable enough (to me, only Matthew Perry really stands out) and the storylines are pretty good, but I’m just kinda ehhhhhhh about it. I’m guessing that the show won’t go past this season, which creator Aaron Sorkin probably knows which means it is possible that he’ll shake some things up for the final episodes, at least I hope he does! C+
Veronica Mars Tuesdays, 9PM CW
Ahh, my dear Veronica. Ok, deep breath. I have a confession to make. I am not blown away by this season. I feel like the rapist storyline has been stalling, Mac & Wallace are mostly MIA and I hate Piz. He is so ridiculously boring & nice & LAME. Hello, Duncan much? The only thing I’m really liking is the Logan-Veronica storyline but even that is killing me because I know they are going to break up. Logan knows that V doesn’t love him the way she should, and to me, that means he is going to give up & start being a jerk again. Did you see the look on his face at the end of the last episode? That was the look of defeat children. I mean for the love of god, what more can the kid do? He's generally behaved well. And he’s right about Veronica not being invincible. Tonight is the conclusion of the rape case (thank god) and someone is going to die—which will be mystery 2 for the season. So I’m pretty much wait and see. But, I want everyone to prepare for the possibility that this will be the last season. From what I’ve heard it doesn’t look too promising, even though ratings have improved a bit, which I don’t really understand because the CW only created 1 show this year and it got cancelled pretty quick. Plus I think Seventh Heaven is getting whipped in the ratings as well (VINDICATION!! Bring back Everwood). Anyhoo if the CW cancels Veronica, then for me, that network will no longer exist. B-
Lost Wednesdays, 9PM ABC
Actually, this show didn’t really have a sweeps but we will discuss anyway. This season has been decent. I think the show really won’t ever stack up to season 1, but it is still enjoyable. I’m glad Kate picked Sawyer. I’m glad Jack is finally cool again. I’m glad that Locke is apparently over his whiny phase. I’m glad for Desmond and Juliet. I still enjoy the show but I’ve surrendered trying to figure anything out, which is a little sad because I like to make fun theories. B
The Nine Wednesday, 10PM ABC
This may actually be a moot point as ABC has just pulled the show from the schedule. I did like it, although as I think about it more & more I was more interested about what happened during the standoff than in the regular lives of the hostages. So maybe this is a blessing in disguise? But I will be sad to see the show go, I really like Tim Daly & I wish he’d get a show that lasted a full season. He was robbed with Eyes I tell you! That show was AWESOME! Yeah, so getting back to the Nine. Nothing really exciting happened during sweeps either. Oh, we found out why Bailey’s baby’s mama couldn’t be with him, which I thought was a kinda lame reason. Ehh. Alright maybe I won’t be too upset if the show gets cancelled, except that I’ll never what happened! That’s it! No more serial dramas for me!! C+
Survivor Thursday, 8PM CBS
Survivor fanatics, put your earmuffs on. I almost broke up with Survivor this year. It was BO-RING!! No one to root for or against. It was just so blah. And the whole hype about tribes being split by ethnicity didn’t even amount to anything. But, then November hit. Holy Moly! The Mutiny! The domination of the 4 person tribe! Double elimination!!! And then, Yul (who is tied with Ozzy as my favorite) turns Jonathan back to their side! So juicy! I’ve been loving every second of it. I was sad to see Nate go, but those idiots deserved Jonathan to turn on them. First, they should have voted him out before one of their own. Nate even said, “We just saw you turn on your tribe, do you think we are going to trust you?” Which is exactly what they did. Then, after being approached by Yul, he went back to his tribe to try to float the idea of Yul having immunity, which they wouldn’t even entertain. You have to wonder if he would have switched if the tribe decided not to vote for Yul. I for one don’t blame Jonathan. And if the winner is not Yul or Ozzy, than I’m cheering for Jonathan. I like him a hell of a lot better than Candace or Pavarti or Adam. A+
The Office Thursdays, 8:30 NBC
At first I wouldn’t watch The Office because I loved the British version. Then I gave in & liked it. Now I’m starting to wonder if the show is too aware of itself. It is really hard to explain what I mean. Oh ok. So the first season of The O.C. Seth was all cute & funny & everyone loved him. But then in the second season, the writers were trying to make him all cute & funny which took something away from the character. He was not so funny or likable anymore. Just kinda cute & annoying. So that is my fear for this show. Not to say that I don’t enjoy it. I still have laugh out loud moments in every episode. And I love that Jim is seeing Karen. Pam shouldn’t get him so easily. Although I hope it doesn’t turn into an eternal pining for each other. Ya know, the single one is always pining for the one in a relationship and then it swaps. I do like the addition of Andy, he makes for a good nemesis for Dwight. B
My Name is Earl Thursdays, 8 NBC
It is funny because I never watch this show when it is on. I am never in the mood. But yet, I watch all the episodes on my tivo & laugh at everyone. So, I’m not too sure what that means. I think it means I like it but I wouldn’t cry if it disappeared. There were some fun guest stars during sweeps: Roseanne Bar, Jenny McCarthy & Christian Slater. (KT sidenote, isn’t it interesting that since Jenny McCarthy starting banging Mega-movie star Jim Carrey she’s had more roles? Discuss amongst yourselves). B-
Men In Trees Thursdays, 10 ABC
Previously this show was in the Friday night death slot. But it is doing so well that ABC has moved it to Thursdays! After Grey’s Anatomy. Wow, that’s a vote of confidence. I like this show a lot. It is not premium quality tv, but it is cute & fun & I really like Anne Heche. B+
Desperate Housewives Sundays, 9 ABC
I wasn’t too impressed earlier in the season, but I think the show has improved. That’s not to say that I don’t think it could be improved more. What I like: Orson & Bree, the return of Andrew, Edie, Dougray Scott (how can you not love the Prince from Ever After?) Lynnette (always Lynnette), the supermarket episode and Laurie Metcalf was awesome! What I don’t like: Gabby’s storylines are boring and I’m so over Susan & Mike-together, separate, upside down, inside out, just OVER THEM. I did enjoy the little twist at the end of this week’s episode. Is it possible that we all misjudged Orson? I mean despite running over Mike (which, really can you blame him?) what’s he ever done? B+
Brothers & Sisters Sundays, 10 ABC
I am loving this show right now. I love the cast & the camaraderie between the siblings. I love Sally Field and Calista. I am just gobbling it all up. Sweeps so the conclusion of the “Where did dad put the money?” storyline. Tommy’s pregnant, Sally Field had sex with Doc Brown (oh I miss his beard!!) and Justin is going to Iraq. YIKES! I also loved the addition of Rob Lowe, and that Kitty did approach him about getting her brother out of his duty. I love getting caught up in this family drama!! A
In other tv news, Scrubs this week! And I heard a dirty rumor that the episode features the song that started it all for me and the singing, dancing, hottie boys.
Ohhhhh! Has anyone else seen the Jack Bauer commercials! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I mean I was excited at first just to see his face but then I saw a new commercial last night where Bill Buchanan was picking up Jack from the Chinese and Jack was all bruised and bearded. He said something about having something to die for. That he wouldn’t die in there, but that he was ready to give his life FOR something! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!
In celebrity break up land, Pamela Anderson has filed for divorce from Kid Rock (didn’t they just get married??). In addition, Hilary Duff and pseudo-Punk Rock boyfriend Joel Madden (Good Charlotte) have also called it quits.
That's all folks! Seeing as how TV will slow down, hopefully I will have some movie reviews for you in the future!!!
KT Update-Hooray for Veronica!!
Geetings from Charlotte! Jay & I are in NC, trying to get settled (which is a little difficult since we still don’t have our stuff from the movers); but, so far, so good. For those of you that didn’t hear, the kitties were soooo good for the ride, I’m glad we didn’t drug them. In other NC news, this Sunday is the last week for Nascar so hopefully all the drivers will be home soon, and you know what that means! Lookout Jr!!
We haven’t had time to get to Uptown or CenterCity or whatever the crap you call it, but we will soon, however we have made it to Arby’s & Sonic for a chocolate shake. I found the list of Broadway plays that are coming to Charlotte & I’m pretty excited that Spamalot is here now and that Sweet Charity (starring Molly Ringwald) and The Lion King will be here this summer. Fun Times!! Jay *hearts* Broadway musicals!!
Alrighty, lets get into some gossip.
A few weeks back I reported that Reese & Ryan had split and that I wasn’t sure who to blame. Well now I am fully informed & place the blame squarely on Ryan. Apparently he is a pig who was always cheating on Reese & decided to blatantly woo his latest co-star. Booo to you Ryan Phillippe! You were always one of my favorites, that I couldn’t wait for you to make it big, but now you are in the same category as Tom Cruise! Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Speaking of Tom Cruise, in case you missed it (and I don’t know how you could) Tom & Katie are getting married tomorrow in Italy. Snoooore.
Let’s get into some tv, shall we?
The first week in Dec. I’ll be sending out a Sweeps Report Card. We’ll go over all the shows that are my favorites right now & see how they are doing. I have to say, NBC has been HYPING Monday’s Heroes episode so it better be good!
****KT UPDATE UPDATE******************
I have just learned that Veronica Mars episode order has been increased by 7 to total 20. This is very happy news because it is almost a full season, but then, why give the show 20 episodes and not a full season pickup? Those folks at the CW are a little nutty, anyhoo…………Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In other tv news, Fox has finally cancelled Vanished and Justice has been kicked over to Fridays. Studio 60 & Friday Night Lights are the latest shows to get full season orders---I think it is interesting that Studio 60 got picked up. I did hear however, that some castmembers were hoping the show Would Not got picked up and that Sorkin had a cancellation clause in the contract---which pretty much means that it may have been more expensive to cancel the show.
I’ll talk about this more when I do my Sweeps Report Card, but I am loving Survivor right now. I was pretty blasé about this season until the whole mutiny thing went down. I mean, I was kinda leaning towards Yul & Ozzy as my two favorites but now I’m all about them! The mutiny was the best thing ever to happen! I love how the mutineers team hasn’t won a single challenge since the big event! Awesome.
Prison Break is scheduled to have its fall finale Nov. 27; but I heard through the grapevine that since Fox’s schedule is dwindling the show may have to come back in January rather than the planned date of March. Ooooh January. That’s only like a month and a half away! Viva La Jack Bauer Power Hour!!
Finally, I heard something today that is pretty spoilerish about Lost. But it is such a huge spoiler that I can’t believe it is really true. So if you don’t want to read, stop now. I’ll catch up with you next week. If you want to know what all the fansites are reporting, see below.

So, a lot of websites are reporting that the second half of the season will revolve around the murder of Jack. Wow. Really? Can they really kill of Matthew Fox? My E! Gossip Guru doesn’t think it is absolutely out of the realm of possibility. Fox is in a movie that has Oscar buzz (maybe he’s ready to try to be a movie star) in the original writing of the pilot Jack was killed (but that’s when they were going to get a big name like Michael Keaton to play Jack), then when asked straight on writers for the show didn’t completely deny it was true—they didn’t say it was, but it was kind of a weird statement. Something to the affect of, “We’re flattered that the fans think we are brave enough to kill a main character off”. Not too sure what to make of that one. In my opinion, I don’t Really think they’ll kill him, but on the other side, he’s been pretty cool lately & I ‘m always wary of characters who have been lame in the past who start acting cool. Anyhoo you’ve been warned. Discuss amongst yourselves!!

KT Update-Frikkin Finally-Do a Happy Dance
Wow, things are a bit crazy now with the impending move; but I must take 15 minutes to report on all that is happening (in other news, the wedding went awesome, as did the honeymoon—I’m sure most of you have seen the pics)…Anyhoo on to the world of entertainment…
----This is a KT UPDATE UPDATE! Our prayers have been answered! Britney has filed for divorce! Now she can stop having babies and start dancing! I mean of course I feel bad that a marriage has been broken, but on the flip side K-FED was sucking all of the fun & dance & music out of britney, so I will rejoice this one celebrity breakup YIPPEEEE!-------
First up, sad, sad, news. Reese and Ryan have separated. I’m not up on my Us Weekly’s so I’m not sure whose fault it is or who was caught cheating, but I did hear this news & it did make me sad. They were one of the few left that I was still rooting for. Moving on (because I have much to spill and not much time)….
Neil Patrick Harris comes out to People Magazine! Wow! That is definitely a surprise. I never would have guessed that Doogie was gay! People has been hosting a few coming out partee’s lately with NPH, Lance Bass and then some dude from Grey’s. Anyhoo, good for him. I am interested to see if his coming out has any affect on ‘How I met Your Mother’. I shouldn’t think so, but you never know, the American public is a fickle bunch.
Casting Scoop! Nathon Fillion (who Whedonites should remember as Mal on Firefly or Caleb on Buffy) will be making a guest appearance on Lost in Kate’s flashback. Did I tell you guys this already? I can’t keep track, but if I did too bad because I’m excited to see him!
In other TV news, Ugly Betty and Brothers & Sisters have both gotten picked up for the rest of the season. Have I told you lately that Brothers & Sisters is my second favorite new show this year? Heroes is my absolute favorite, I can’t wait for each Monday. But I was surprised to find how much I like B&S. This is how I usually gauge how much I like a show. When I’m away for awhile (as I was for the honeymoon) I usually find it interesting to see what shows I go for first. Of course, it was Veronica Mars, then Heroes, then Brothers & Sisters. If you aren’t watching this show, you are missing out on some fun family drama! I’m loving the cast & I really care about their stories. If you haven’t seen it, check it out, Sundays @ 10 on ABC.
So I officially hate NBC. Remember how I wasn’t going to watch Kidnapped even though I liked it because I knew those bastards would cancel it. But then NBC promised to let the show run 13 episodes before they pulled the plug. LIES!! ALL LIES!!! NBC has pulled Kidnapped (which I actually really enjoyed) effective immediately. Oh & the big consolation prize is that they will air the remaining eps on NBC.com eventually. Boo to you NBC! Now I’m really not going to watch your stoopid shows.
What else? Ahh yes, another boneheaded move for NBC. Although I’m very excited that Scrubs will be returning Nov. 30, it will be on against all the Thurs 9PM shows! I really think NBC is trying to get Scrubs cancelled, I mean for the love of god, can’t you put it in a spot where people might watch it? I mean, of course I will watch it, but everyone else in the world is watching CSI or Grey’s Anatomy. So here is a double Big Boo to NBC!! BOOOOOOO BOOOOO!
On the vindication side of things, I will let out a hearty chuckle that Runaway got cancelled on the CW. I do feel bad for Donny Wahlberg, but hey, that’s what you get when you cancel Everwood.
I think that’s all I have for now. I’m going to do an in-depth look out the shows I watch post sweeps (is anyone else losing interest in Lost? Is it time to delete Desperate Housewives from my tivo? Do I want Logan & Veronica to break up? Will I finally declare myself a Prison Break fan??) So yes, the answer to these & more questions when I do my Sweeps wrap up at the end of the month. Until then, enjoy sweeps weeks & remember to keep in touch…

KT Update-I'm drowning in TV!!!!
Hola everyone! This week is round 3 for big premieres. I can hardly contain myself for the excitement & fun that awaits me this week. First, Tuesday means new Veronica Mars! I hope all you slackers that got hooked from my season 1 dvd got caught up in time (Michael l& Hylda!!) Then Wednesday brings a new Lost (frikkin finally!) and the premiere of The Nine. I’ve been waiting for The Nine for a while. I thought it had the most potential when it was unveiled last spring, and now I get to finally see if it lives up to my expectations.
Before I get into new reviews I have some good tv gossip!
So you all know that I am heartbroken over the cancellation of Everwood (KT Sidenote: My curses still work! The CW’s Runaway which is in Everwood’s old spot is doing TERRIBLE!!! I do feel bad cursing Donnie Wahlberg—he was my favorite New Kid for a while---but I love Everwood more) but show creator Greg Bertlini is not unemployed, so that makes me happy. He is actually working on Brothers & Sisters & has promised to bring some familiar faces from Everwood to his new show. Wow, Greg works fast! News just came in that Treat Williams will do a few episodes as Sally Field’s love interest!
I have mentioned a few times in the past that a childhood friend of mine is in the business. She’s had a few small roles on Broadway & even did a guest stint last year on Law & Order. Well, I’m quite excited to report that Jackie has landed a recurring role on NBC’s midseason replacement The Black Donnelly’s. She’ll play the lead character’s girlfriend. Fun Times!!!
Last week Fox pulled Happy Hour & Justice. Now comes news that they may be waiting to pull the plug on Justice. They’ve ordered additional scripts, which in TV land means that the network is not ready to cancel you, but they want to see what direction you are going before they give you additional money to film episodes.
Another one bites the dust! Good thing I didn’t watch it! CBS pulls Smith effective immediately!!!
First full season pickup of the season! NBC picks up Heroes!
On Monday ABC Family began running Everwood. I can’t tell you how nice it was to go back to the beginning and see little-purple haired angry Ephram meeting Amy for the first time. Oh, and Andy & Nina meeting for the first time! I love this show. It just makes me feel all warm & cozy inside. Plus, 4 years later, I still love the fight between Ephram & Andy. For a father to yell “I hate you right back you little brat” to his son after said son exclaimed his hatred for his father, well, that’s something you don’t see on tv. That’s why it kills me that this show was cancelled so that 7th Heaven, the queen of saccharine, unrealistic family television could get another year. It really is to Everwood’s credit that they were never afraid to do the opposite of what other WB type shows did. So, if you get home early from work, or you have a tivo, I suggest checking out Everwood, weeknights, 6PM, ABC Family.
New Show Reviews
Just in case you forgot, here is my rating scale.
Here’s my rating scale:
* One Tree Hill (I do not endorse this show)
** Smallville (I’ll watch it, but it hasn’t made it to my season pass list)
** ½ Prison Break (I hate this show but I can’t stop watching!)
*** Desperate Housewives (One of my tivo shows)
**** 24 (Nothing will keep me from watching this show!!)
Kidnapped (Wed, 10PM NBC) Dana Delaney & Timothy (Turk-182) Hutton star as a rich couple whose teenage son gets abducted. Jeremy Sisto (Brenda’s crazy brother Billy on Six Feet Under, or for you Creek fans, the guy that Joey was with in the finale before she dumped his ass for Pacey) is a “retrieval specialist” but then the FBI & Delroy Lindo (you’d know his face) butt in & everything goes wacky! I liked this show a lot, and I didn’t think I would like it at all. I wasn’t planning on watching it (after Reunion last year I had sworn off serialized shows that would tell you who done it by the end of the season) but it came highly recommended by the Mozz. That being said, the second episode was down 14% from the premiere; which means to me that it is in danger of being axed. So now I am torn. Should I watch? Should I not? I like it, but I don’t want to get all involved just so the show can be cancelled in December & then I’ll never know why the kid was abducted. Bah!!! So I’m still deciding. Maybe I’ll tivo this week’s and see how the ratings did. If they are still falling, then I will just cut my losses before I get too involved. *** KT UPDATE UPDATE—This just in from a reliable source—Apparently NBC has told the creators of Kidnapped that they will have 13 episodes & that’s it. So there is a good news and bad news. The bad news is that the show is pretty much dead. The good news is that NBC is giving the show time to wrap up its storyline. So yay! I will continue to watch! ----Another KT KT Update! This just in! NBC banishes Kidnapped to Saturday nights! They better keep this on to finish the storyline!!
Ugly Betty (Thurs, 8PM, ABC) Wow, Thursday night is the big night again. This is the only time period where I have 3 conflicting shows to watch. Thank goodness for tivo. On CBS is survivor (which honestly is starting to bore me a little bit, I still haven’t picked a favorite---KT KT update-Alas-This Thursday was a surprise! Yay! I love when tribes make things interesting!!), NBC is My Name is Earl & The Office while ABC has little gem, Ugly Betty. To sum up, this is a show about a manwhore who is heading up a fashion magazine. In order to stop his son, the manwhore from sleeping with all of his assistants, a Publishing Tycoon hires an ugly girl to be his son’s new assistant. But look, even though she is ugly and not a size 4, she is smart! So she & the son bond and he decides he needs her in order to succeed! America Ferrara is the core of the show and she is extremely likable (she was great in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants). There were some sweet moments in this show, and at one point I actually cried (Oh god, I think I just turned into my mother). I liked the show a lot (even though it reminded me of The Devil Wear’s Prada) but I’ll keep watching for now (hopefully it won’t get old).***
Hooray! Finally Veronica Mars! Now I can’t go into too much detail because there is one person who is finishing up season 2, but I will say that I enjoyed the premiere. It wasn’t over the top amazing, but I enjoyed seeing some familiar faces. The new kid, Piz, he was on Life As We Know It two years ago. I like him, but I think he might be too wussy for a possible love interest. Oh, and did everyone catch that the sweater that Veronica gave to Piz to wear was the one that Duncan lent to Logan last year? Hee Hee. That’s why it is extra funny that Logan said “Nice Shirt”. See kids, you have to pay attention to get all the VM goodness! I expect next week will flow a little more, with Veronica back on a real case with substance. ****
The Nine This show is about 9 people that survive a 52 hour hostage crisis. The show takes place immediately following the 52 hours & the show will reveal bits & pieces of it through the season as we watch these 9 people try to move on. It has a pretty impressive cast, Tim Daly (Wings, Eyes), Scott Wolf (Hello! Bailey from PO5), Chi McBride (the principal from Boston Public) & Kim Raver (Audrey from 24). I’m definitely interested to find out what went on; and I like most of the characters, I’ll continue to watch. ***
Lost Before I start this review, I am stating now that I’m going to steal 2 terms from the guy at EW.com that does the lost review. Henceforth I will be referring to Henry Gale as “Benry” (we learned that his “other” name is Ben) and the place were the others live is “othersville”. Just wanted to let you know, didn’t want to take credit for fun names that I didn’t come up with myself. I have to say, not too impressed. I know some people who thought this was an amazing premiere, I thought it just brought up even more questions & storylines. There were snippets that I enjoyed, Sawyer giving his cookie to Kate and seeing the way Benry directed Ethan & the other dude when they saw the plane coming down. Hmm. Ya know what? I just thought of something interesting. “Othersville” seemed to be unaffected by the chaos that was happening on the other side of the island (aka Desmond fumbling with the numbers)…is othersville far enough away that the electric buzz that entering numbers at the hatch stops does not affect them? Discuss. Anyhoo, I still like Lost. For me, it will never be as frikkin awesome as it was for those first few episodes. Every now & again I’m spellbound, but for the most part I’m just confused and that’s not so fun to watch. At this point though I’m so invested that it would take something dramatic for me to stop watching.
Friday Nights Lights debuted this week but I haven’t had time to watch it. Which brings me too….My tivo is going to strike soon! I have way too many shows on there & my season pass list is OUT OF CONTROL!!!! Right now, I’m season passing:
How I met Your Mother
Prison Break
Heroes
Studio 60
What About Brian
Friday Nights Light
The Unit (for jay)
Veronica Mars
Jericho
30 Rock**although this hasn’t debuted yet
Lost
The Nine
Kidnapped
Ugly Betty
Survivor
My Name is Earl
The office
Six Degrees
Men in Trees
The Amazing Race
Desperate Housewives
Brothers & Sisters
South Park
Wow, that’s 19 ½ hours of tv each week!! Holy crap. That’s a lot of tv eh. So yeah, it might be time to start making some cuts. Truthfully, the only one close to getting cut is Six Degrees, but I haven’t watched the second episode yet, so I can’t really make any judgments yet.
Next week I’ll have thoughts on Friday Night Lights & 30 Rock!!!

KT Update- My TIVO is Going to Explode!!
Hey kids. Fall season is in full swing and my poor tivo is in overdrive!!! Before I get into some reviews, I’ve got some gossip to spill.
Continuing the tradition of bringing back 80’s-90’s tv stars back from oblivion, Veronica Mars will be graced with Richard Greico for a multi-episode arc. Oohhh, I wonder if he’ll be sporting that leather jacket that I remember from his Jumpstreet days.
In other casting news, Tori Spelling will do a brief stint on Smallville as a gossip columnist at the Daily Planet with some superpowers.
-----We interrupt this update to bring you BREAKING NEWS--- I’ve just received an email from AOL, it is a first listen to JC’s new single, Until Yesterday. JC has decided to take advantage of the JT heat, and has his former bandmate on as producer. I have to say. I really didn’t like it. I feel like JC’s team or whoever is in charge always picks bad singles. There were so many kick ass songs on his last cd that could have been lead singles and he started off with “Some Girls”. I’m afraid that he is just trying to use the Justin connection to get airplay. Truthfully, I’ve only listened to the song once, so it may grow on me, but as of now, I’m not excited. Sometimes different doesn’t mean better. Either way, I am excited that his single is about to drop, now I’ll get to see him again & that means new record & tour! Yay!—Please come to NC!!! We now return you to your regularly scheduled KT Update------
HBO announced that Entourage has been picked up for a 4th season & that unfortunately for Jimmy Norton, Lucky Louie was not picked up. I can’t decide how I feel about this. I feel bad for Lil Jimmy & it was fun to see him on tv each week, plus I thought the show had some outrageously hilarious moments, but, I felt like it took some extra effort on my part to watch the show. If it wasn’t tivo’d I would have missed it every week, usually I sprint to the tv @ 7:59 to watch whatever favorite show tivo has for me.
Finally, it doesn’t fill the hole left in my heart from the cancellation, but Everwood will be replayed on ABC Family. If you never got into this show you should give it a chance. And if you love it, you should tivo all the episodes & then burn them onto dvd’s because only season 1 has been put on dvd.

New Shows
Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip (NBC, Mon 10)
This is the most hyped show of the new fall season. If you know anything about television, you’ve heard of Aaron Sorkin or one of his shows (Sports Night, The West Wing). Anyhoo, as I mentioned last week, I like Sorkin’s writing because he is the master of fast paced, quick-witted dialogue; he also tells really good stories. I was pretty impressed with Studio 60, I like the dynamic between Matthew Perry & Bradley Whitford (plus it appears Sorkin has given the the two main characters many of his personality traits). I also enjoyed the "inside joke" in the beginning when every newscaster was reporting the same exact story the same exact way. I hope the show won’t get tiring too fast, he did a good job keeping The West Wing interesting for a few years, but America may not care about’s Sorkin’s opinions on the state of television. I’ll continue to watch in the meantime. ***
Brothers & Sisters (ABC, Sun 10)- A pretty impressive roster—Sally Field, Calista Flockhart, Rachel Griffiths, Balthazaar Getty, Patricia Wettig, Ron Rifkin, Tom Skerritt and the infamous Side Mouth Talker from Reunion. Here’s a surprise, this show centers around a family of 5 siblings and their mother. I thought the acting was stellar, the premiere was a little obvious but, the point of a premiere is to set up the series, so although I knew what was going to happen, it had to happen to push forward the show. I liked this show enough to add it right to my season pass list. ***
The Class(CBS, Mon 8:30)-This show is about a guy who gets his 3rd grade class back for a reunion to commemorate the day he met his girlfriend. Trouble is, she thinks he is a freak for getting all these people together & that he is smothering her. So of course she dumps him. Now all these people who haven’t seen each other in 20 years are buddies! Of course! I thought the show was pretty decent but I didn’t have any desire to watch it this week. **
Six Degrees (ABC, Thurs 10)
As I mentioned last week, most of us would recognize the faces on this show, especially Bridget Moynahan, Erica Christenson & Jay Hernadez. The premise of this show is that everyone is connected by 6 people. So you see characters & storylines intersect, sometimes the characters won’t know each other & sometimes they will impact the other characters. I think it is an interesting premise, I just don’t know how long they can keep it up. I thought it was pretty good. I had a hard time believing some of the storylines though. I’ll give it one more shot, but I’m guessing this one won’t make it to the season pass list. **
Men In Trees I still like this show, it is not high drama or comedy, it is cute. And it made it to my season pass list!!!
Returning Shows
The Amazing Race-Holy crazy ass casting Batman! What a wild bunch! A Kentucky coal miner, two single mothers, two recovering addict models ( I love how the show introduces contestants, it really said “recovering addict models” I nearly piddled I laughed so hard)….a pair of unfabulous gay boys, 2 islamic friends (who kept praying, and ended up getting eliminated BEFORE the pit stop—go figure) This year’s bunch is anything but boring. I’ve already dubbed the addict/model boys as my favorites and so far, in my 3 seasons of watching the show my favorite has either won or come in second. So go addict/models!!
The Office—Best Line Ever. “See Kids, sometimes it pays to be gay.” Holy crap, that was the most uncomfortable, hilarious half hour of my life. Watching Michael trying to deal with a gay employee was priceless. OMG, the gaydar? I think I chocked on my ice cream pop for that one. And that kiss? Holy crap. I love the creators of the Office. NBC promoted the Pam/Jim kiss all summer and the storyline took a backseat to the outing of Oscar, the climax of the show—Michael kissing Oscar to prove he was ok with Oscar being gay was frikkin hysterical (and then when Dwight tried to join in). Wow. I can’t believe I ever doubted this show, and I have to say I’m a little sad that I already deleted this episode from my tivo because I kinda wanna go watch it again.
My Name Is Earl—I still enjoy this show, but now that I’m watching the Office this show suffers a little by comparison (especially since they are on back to back).
Prison Break- I want to take this opportunity to say that even though I still find this show completely ludicrous, I’ve been enjoying it more & more. I think I even made it through last week without groaning. I like the individual storylines, but it was fun to see the boys all back together, especially the scene when Michael & Lincoln came upon T-Bag. Oh yeah, I did groan once, what the Frikk Lincoln! You didn’t completely search T-Bag for the map! Amature! I do like the creepy, pill poppin FBI man more & more—he’s so grumpy. And I’m loving the secret service man cozing up to Sara, he’s so much more fun this year! “We can watch Fried Green Tomatoes!”
How I met your mother- What can I say other than I love Barney? When he was going through all the ways to kill himself at Robin & Ted’s PDA? Classic.
Desperate Housewives- I thought the premiere of Season 3 was a step in the right direction. I liked the storylines for Susan & Gabby especially. I have a hard time believing that after everything Bree has been through she would stay with Orson after the bombshell dropped at her engagement party; and I think the Lynnette-Tom-Other Woman storyline is going to get old FAST. But I’m interested again, and that’s always a good thing.
Grey’s Anatomy-Mozz—if you are reading this, I’m ready to give into peer pressure and watch season 1 if you want to let me borrow it. I tivo’d the first ep of season 3 & as long as there is room on my tivo, I’ll keep it.
Survivor Rant: I’m not going to make this long because although I watch Survivor, I do not consider myself a survivor “fan” because they are in a class all their own, but I would like to put my two cents in and seeing as this is my blog….I’m gonna!
The casting this year is SHADY. I was thinking it and then Cindy forwarded me an email from one of her co-workers. Sundra is an actress, in fact, she’s been on Sex & the City. Fans should remember her as the disapproving, chef sister of the hottie black man that Samantha was dating. For me, this cheapens the show. Survivor fans are rabid, and they try repeadily to get on the show Part of the allure of the show is that YOU could be one of these people. YOU have as much of a chance of being on this show as anyone else. But that is not the way things are now. I think I read that 80% of the contestants were recruited. So that means that only 20% were from people who applied to be on the show? Ehhh. I don’t know. It makes me feel all dirty inside, if this continues, I don’t know how much longer I’ll watch the show. I already watch 20 ACTORS pretend to be castaways, it is called Lost.
I have the following shows tivo’d and will report back to you by the end of the week on them!! Kidnapped (NBC, Wed, 10PM); Jericho (CBS, Wed 8PM); Smith (CBS, Tues 10PM); Heroes (NBC, Mon 9PM).
Also premiering this week:
Ugly Betty (ABC, Thurs 8PM)

New TV Reviews
Just in case you forgot, here is my rating scale.
Here’s my rating scale:
* One Tree Hill (I do not endorse this show)
** Smallville (I’ll watch it, but it hasn’t made it to my season pass list)
** ½ Prison Break (I hate this show but I can’t stop watching!)
*** Desperate Housewives (One of my tivo shows)
**** 24 (Nothing will keep me from watching this show!!)
New Shows
Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip (NBC, Mon 10)

KT Update-Too...Much...Music!!!
I’ve been in a music draught for a while. Here & there I’ll hear a song that I like but I haven’t been to Best Buy on the day a record dropped in a long time---Can I even remember? I think last year when the new Fiona Apple came out. But to quote my good friend Hylda, “It is always Feast or Famine”. And so, the new music feast has begun. First Christina, 2 weeks later Audioslave & a week after than Justin. I have more new music than I know what to do with. I don’t believe in reviewing music unless I’ve had a few run throughs to let the music sink into my head to see what stands out & what I hate. But, I’ve been enjoying both JT & Audioslave. I’ve only listened to Christina once, and not all the way through; so I’ll have to give that a few more listens before I comment.
Time for some celebrity gossip!
Well, now that Britney has popped out her second child in less than a year we can all start hoping that she has learned her lesson and will finally invest in some birth control. I sometimes wonder if this pregnancy (which was a surprise) stung a bit to Britney. I mean, she should be out, promoting a new album, but instead she gets to sit home with her white trash husband & watch her ex-boyfriend and her ex-arch nemesis releasing albums & touring. That’s got to hurt, just a tad. And again I say, hopefully the girl will not go near her husband unless she has about 4 different types of contraception handy.
Also, from the celebrity break up center---This just in---Whitney has filed for divorce from Bobby! I’m not really upset about this one, but I am a wee bit surprised. I mean, a few years back this wouldn’t be a surprise but Bobby & Whitney have been through a lot together & seeing their reality show, I actually could understand them together. Let’s all talk a moment of silence for Bobby & Whitney.
In other news, I’ve got some tv reviews!
Men In Trees (Fridays, ABC) This premiered on Tuesday. TV execs think they are getting so smart. Nobody watches tv on Friday. So let’s premiere a show on Tuesday, get a bit of a fan base and then *BAM* surprise, this show is really on Friday nights. I really don’t care what night a show is on, my tivo doesn’t discriminate. Anyhoo, in a nutshell, Anne Heche is a relationship guru who is about to get married when *surprise* she finds out that her fiancée is cheating on her. Being the trooper that she is, she still goes on her book tour, which includes a stop to Alaska. She gets there, all the obligatory comical nature scenes occur (including a wacky raccoon) and after trying for a few days to get out of Alaska unsuccessfully, she decides that this place is where she needs to be. She knows women, but she don’t know crap about men. She needs to stay her & grow, get over what happened to her (actually she takes it quite well, she just gets drunk in a local bar before a lecture…if my wedding got called off a week before it was scheduled to happen because my fiancée was cheating on me with a friend, it would not be so pretty); and learn about men (because as we all know men outnumber women in Alaska about 5-1, or some crap like that. But yeah, besides this overdone concept, I did enjoy this show; I do like Anne Heche & I will tivo the show this Friday. In fact, if I like it, the show will most likely make it to my SEASON PASS LIST! If you wanna check it out ABC is reairing the pilot tonight, followed by the second episode.
Survivor-So yeah. I still don’t get what everyone is flipping out about. I kinda wish I knew someone who was offended by the splitting of the tribes along racial lines so that I could understand it better, because really I don’t see what all the hoopla is about. So far, the lesson we’ve learned is that most stereotypes are true. The Asians kicked ass in the puzzle portion of the challenge & engineered a kick ass camp, the black people had trouble in the water, and the white people were lazy, laid around cuddling and didn’t make a shelter. My favorite person on the show is the wacky Vietnamese guy who guys around rubbing headaches out of people & cracking offense asian jokes. He’s soooo the first to go on that tribe. But he is very entertaining, and a lot more laid back than the rest of his team. On a separate note, I’m beginning to think that Mark Burnett goes out of his way to cast people who have never seen the show. Ok, so the big man on your tribe is annoying & the boys got all masculine and made a decision without the women, but you still don’t vote off a strong member first. How are you going to win challenges? Ugh. So silly.
24 Scoop! The following is a release from Fox. It is pretty spoilerish in terms of how things will start off for season 6; though there is no mention of where Jack is & what condition he is in.
"Season Five concluded with a battered and bloodied Bauer captured by Chinese government agents and headed for points unknown. Season Six picks up 20 months later. Wayne Palmer (DB Woodside), the strong-minded brother of the late President David Palmer, is now himself the President of the United States, while his sister, Sandra Palmer (Regina King), is a determined and powerful advocacy lawyer. After a series of horrific terrorist attacks, Palmer and his team of advisors, Karen Hayes (Jayne Atkinson) and Thomas Lennox (Peter MacNicol) — as well as CTU colleagues Chloe O'Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub), Curtis Manning (Roger Cross) and Bill Buchanan (James Morrison) — begin an unthinkable, nail-biting day." The spoilerific release also announced that James Cromwell has joined the cast as Jack's estranged father, and Eddie Izzard will play a "villainous accomplice."
Upcoming TV Premieres:
Sunday, Sept. 17
The Amazing Race (8, CBS)– I started watching this show a few years back when Romber were on. Now we watch it every year, although last year, Jay came dangerously close to killing me. During the first 5 episodes contestants went to Italy-Greece & Russian. So for an hour every Tuesday (now the show has moved to Sundays) I would whine: “Jay, I want to go to Greece.” “Jay, I want to go to Italy.” “Jay, I want to ……” You get the point. Anyway, he was so excited when the teams got sent to some far off Middle Eastern country because I was quiet for the whole hour. J
Monday, Sept 18
How I Met Your Mother (8, CBS)-When we last left our friends, Lilly had just broken up with Marshall, Robin & Ted were finally getting somewhere & Barney was…where was Barney? I’m guessing picking up some babes. Anyhoo, this year brings a whole new dynamic. Lilly off finding herself, Marshall heartbroken, Barney trying to cheer Marshall up and make him into his new wingman & Robin/Ted working as a couple. Should be fun.
The Class (8:30 CBS)-I’ve heard mixed reviews on this but I’m going to check it out anyway. It is about a guy who gets his 3rd grade class back for a reunion. No idea why, no idea if it will be good. I’ll let you know
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (10PM, NBC)- This is the standout of the season (or so say the critics) I guess we will see. But really, how can you not root for a bunch of tv veterans & Aaron Sorkin? I’ll always check out Sorkin projects because I loved The American President, love the early days of the West Wing. Plus everyone loves Sports Night, I really got to watch that on dvd.
Tuesday, September 19
Smith (CBS, 10PM) Oh look Ray Liota & Virigina Madsen are a happy family! Fooled You! Really Ray Liota is a high class thief. His plan is to do just a few more jobs so that he can relax with his family, but will the FBI catch him before he quits his life of crime? Sounds kinda like The Sopranos but instead of mob guys you have high class thieves. Eh, I like Virginia Madsen, so I’ll check it out.
Wednesday, September 20
Jericho (CBS, 8) Skeet Ulrich & a bunch of other people have to deal with the after affects of a nuclear explosion. I’m not too clear if a bomb goes off accidentally or what, but apparently these people are far enough away that they don’t get obliterated, yet they will deal with its aftermath.
Thursday, September 21
Six Degrees (ABC, 10PM) Some of you (the movie dorks, like me) will most likely recognize a few of these names. Jay Hernadez, Bridget Moynahan, Erika Christensen, Campbell Scott. They have a few movies between them, and now they are the cast for Six Degrees. A show that illustrates how someone you don’t know can have an affect on your life. Plus, JJ Abrams is executive producer, and ya know, I feel kinda guilty that my Tom Cruise hate outweighed my JJ love this summer, and I didn’t see MI:3. So I’ll definitely check it out.
The Office & My name is Earl (NBC, 8PM, 8:30PM) return on the 21st as well. All the office fans are waiting to see what is going to happen between Pam & Jim. I’ve heard rumblings that the result is “very realistic”. Which to me, means that although they kissed, Pam won’t break up with her fiancée; & she & Jim will no longer speak at work, instead drowning in the tension.
Oh yeah. And for all you Grey’s Anatomy fans, that returns too.
That’s your look ahead for next week. If you watched something that you love/hate let me know!

KT Update-Fall is here!
You know things are bad when I don’t even want to report on the emmy’s. They were ok. The best part of the show was Conan’s intro. He “dropped in” on a few of the top shows. Going from Lost-The Office-24-House, even South Park. It was definitely the best part of the evening. As for the awards themselves, I’m happy for 24 & Keifer, it is about time they got some love. I also can’t really hate on The Office, although I think emmy voters could have waited a year and given the award this year to either Scrubs or Arrested Development. Other than that…blech. I don’t care. I don’t even care to comment on the fashion! Emmy’s do you hear me?? Make the show better before I lose all interest!!!! Like the VMA’s.
Wow, I’m so dangerously close to never watching that EVER again. I think it is highly amusing that a channel that shows videos for about an hour a day can muster up the nerve to have an award show for videos. I mean, I can’t even really have an opinion anymore because I only see the videos I seek out. I’ve seen Justin’s & Christina’s and, oh I saw that Dance, Dance video (that was cool, that danced to Thriller) and uh……uh…..the Madonna video! Yeah, yeah where she is wearing the unitard and leggings. Ok, so that’s 4 videos and one of them is too new to be a nominee. So I tivo’d the show (KT side note, I love my tivo for a variety of reasons, but the best may be its function during an awards show. I start watching 2 ½ hours into the show and finish up in about a half hour. I can zoom past commercials, stoopid presenters & awards. It is awesome! Although because the VMA’s went over I did miss Axl & the Killers—which I saw last night, I didn’t really miss anything great, oh and ya know what, I still don’t know who won video of the year.) But back to the show. Wow. LAME. Justin & Timbaland were pretty good, Beyonce channeled Janet Jackson, there was a lot of rap that I fast forwarded through, there were some guys on a treadmill. Kelly Clarkson & Pink won awards. Britney & K.Fed did a horrendous skit that I fast forwarded half way through…and let’s not forget Jack Black. TERRIBLE!! TERRIBLE!! Sometimes I worry that I am old and out of touch, but then I’ll see a good performance (none on Thursday though) and just realize that MTV sucks now a days. They stink and I don’t like them!
Let’s move on to something a little more pleasant, the new fall season. I’ve decided to take one for the team and really try to watch every new show this year so that I can tell you with full confidence which shows stink and which shows you should watch. Plus my tivo has the nifty feature where it will automatically tape every pilot for me! Yay! I *super heart* TIVO!!! By now, you should all trust me and my taste. I’ve gotten the Veronica Mars club to include 5 new members this year (all by watching my dvds) and there is still time until the Oct. premiere, so if you want to borrow them let me know!!! Oh, and a special shout out to Marianne, who never watches tv (she runs triathlons for the love of god) but watched the entire season of Veronica Mars in a weekend. That’s what I like to see Mare!!! TV=Good!
Every week I’ll review the shows that I’ve watched & give you a little preview of what lies ahead the next week; so get ready kids of fall premiere time!!!!
Shows that have already premiered:
Vanished (Mondays, 9 Fox) Unfortunately this premiered before I made my decision to watch all the new shows. But I haven’t heard anything too great so I don’t feel bad that I missed it.
Justice (Wednesdays, 9 Fox) I hate lawyer shows. I use to watch The Practice but I got annoyed with all the whiny lawyers. So needless to say I wasn’t too excited to watch this, but it has Jack Bristow & Jack from the Creek so I had to give it a chance. It is pretty crazy to see Kerr Smith all grown up from his creek days, he still has that little sensitive face, but he’s a lawyer now!!! And Victor Garber has gone from stoic Jack Bristow to swarmy, smart lawyer!!! Garber is the best part of the show, and I have to say I mostly enjoyed it. You get to see all the pieces of the trial and at the end of the hour they show you what really happened, if the person they were defending did the crime. I’ll probably give it a few more episodes before I ultimately decide. It would be good filler for when there are Lost repeats on. **
Stand Off (Tuesdays, 9 Fox) I like Ron Livingston. I don’t really like his show. Standoff is about a negotiator and his partner (who are sleeping together). So it is an action-romance. Yelch. Didn’t buy the chemistry between the two leads. And I’ so bored with the whole, negotiators are trying to save lives while the tactical team only wants to go in there and shoot up the place. Although I do agree with jimmy, the show did have one outstanding moment of dialogue. Some spoiled kid with mommy issues has a bomb strapped to his chest. Ya know how usually the family gets on the horn to say something comforting? Well, said mommy writes a note that the negotiator reads verbatim. “I’m sorry, I never wanted children.” Yikes! That’s rough. Poor kid, no wonder he had to strap a bomb to his chest to get some attention. **
As you may have noticed, I included one half star rating 2 ½ for “I hate this show yet I can’t stop watching it”. I really, really hate Prison Break and I keep telling myself that if Jay didn’t like it, I wouldn’t be watching. I don’t know if this is true. I just can’t help myself. The show is so frikkin ridiculous. The fact that 8 convicts could out run a line of police cars to even start season 2 is asinine. Then T-Bag gets a vet to re-attach his hand that was chopped off hours earlier? And he stays conscious during the procedure without meds? And has enough strength to kill the vet? And can immediately regain control of his hand? And what about the idiots who are going to see their families? They would have cops staking them out & taps on all the phones. Are you telling me that only ex-prison guard Bellick thought to trail Scoffield’s wife? WTF!!! And, Lincoln is just strolling around town without any kind of disguise, no hat, no nothing? Oh and I know we just escaped prison but hey let’s go to the courthouse and pick up my son. And tweener could not be a more obvious escapee. You know that scene in Stand By Me when Vern is on patrol and has the gone and every time something moves he points the gun? That’s how my man Tweener is. So you see, I could fill 15 pages of these ridiculous plot points yet I need to keep watching so I can keep on being floored with how outrageous this show can get. Plus I have to give them points for shooting Veronica in the forehead in the premiere. That was cool.
Tonight Fox premieres Til Death & Happy Hour. Til Death stars the brother from Everybody Loves Raymond and the only thing I know about Happy Hour is that it is expected to be the first casualty of the season. So I’ll try real hard to watch them so I can report back, but I may have to make an amendment to my rule of watching all the new shows and just make it all the new dramas & some select comedies. (KT Update Note: Today is friday. I couldn't watch them. I tried. I did. But the Mets & Football were on so my fiancee had control of the tv...and I didn't really want to watch them either)
What’s up for next week
Not too many new premieres, the week of the 18th is the big premiere week.
The Simpsons, American Dad, Family Guy, The War at Home (Sept 10)
Men in Trees (debuting Sept 12) ABC
Anne Heche is in Alaska ( I think) looking for a man. I’m going to Tivo this. I’m interested, but I’ve always been an Anne Heche fan. Hey, when you know and love someone from back in their Soap days (Another World) it is had to turn your back on them. Plus she was good on Everwood. I’m not saying it is gonna be good, I’m just saying I’ll check it out.
Survivor (Sept 14)
Wow, everyone is getting their panties in a bunch about this grouping along racial lines. Hate to break it to all the non survivor fans, but this is not new for the show. They’ve split the tribes by sex and age, so naturally race is next. Survivor has always been a social experiment, to see what bonds last when $1 million is on the line. I don’t think the race card is going to be as controversial as everyone expects.
Talk to you next week!
Looking Back
**Note: This was written last week. I'll try to work on an Emmy wrap up as soon as I can, but I do want to mention that Conan kicked ass as the host.
Morning dears! Sorry for the long wait, but I have much to spill. First off, since we are so dangerously close to the new fall season and this year’s emmy’s, I want to take a second to look back upon the outstanding (and mostly overlooked) performances of the 05-06 season.
The Cast of Arrested Development: I will always be in awe of this cast. Although there were standout performances in the group (Gob) each personality was needed to make the show what it was. If there is any justice, my dear Gob will take the best supporting actor emmy home, but I’m not holding my breath.
Dwight-The Office. I was holding out on this show for a good long while. I had heard all the acclaim, but I felt dirty because of how much I loved the british version. I’m glad I finally caved because the American version of the show successfully carved out its own personality. Just like AD, this is an ensemble piece; but the big difference is that I think this show would suffer significantly without the character of Dwight. He is just so ludicrous and I love every minute it.
Barney- How I Met Your Mother. While I love this show and all of the characters, it really all comes down to Barney. This character gets so dangerously close to over-the-top, but it is Neil Patrick Harris that pulls Barney back in and makes him, dare I say it, likable. I’m even rooting for Barney to end up with Robin in the end. Plus, how can you hate all those little catchphrases that we have thanks to Barney? Suit up!
Joy-My Name Is Earl. I’ll admit it, I didn’t think Jaimie Pressley could act worth a dime. Wow, was I wrong. She is absolutely hysterical as Earl’s slutty, shady, plotting, thieving ex-wife Joy. She gives Joy just the right amount of white trash.
Turk-Scrubs. Usually when I talk about Scrubs it is all Dr. Cox, Dr. Cox. This year, a new personality emerged, Turk. Dr. Cox was still an amusing character, but Donald Faison managed to steal every scene he was in. I still laugh when I think of “He can dance if he wants. He can leave his friends behind.” Or the airband contest when he busted out Bell Biv Devoe’s Poison. Holy crap, I think I literally rolled off the couch at that one.
24 It is hard for me to believe that I almost gave up on this show, what was it, 2 years ago? The show had a rough 3rd season. But season 4 came back hard, and was topped—TOPPED by season 5. I would argue that season 5 even beat the dreaded 24 lull that usually happens midseason, and even though it hurts to wait until January for Jack to return, it is the best idea ever. Non-stop 24 action!! This year saw stellar performances from Jack (yet again, give that man an emmy!!), President & First Lady Logan, Agent Pearce, Chloe and lookout! I didn’t hate Audrey this year!!! On top of all the outstanding performances, this show has some balls. In the first 15 minutes of the season premiere the show killed off 2 beloved characters and maimed another (who eventually died as well). Later in the season we lost another main character (and actually made me feel sad about it, I hated Edgar) and 2 recurring cast members. No one is safe! It is scary, but I love it!!!
Mr. Ecko/Desmond-Lost. Overall I thought this was a decent year for lost. But I don’t recall many of the storylines (except for the last 2 episodes) that stood out for me, and that is not really a good sign. Locke needs to stop being so whiny, he use to rock and now he is getting dangerously close to pathetic. The final story arc was rather interesting, it was cool to really learn about Desmond & I am quite interested to see what the new season brings. One definite plus to this season was the addition of Mr. Ecko who brings a new element of mystery and strength to the show (that we’ve been missing since Locke has been so L-A-M-E this year).
Logan, Veronica, Keith Mars-Veronica Mars. Season 2 comes out on Wednesday so there is no reason for you not to be all caught up and ready to go for season 3 this October. Season 2 was a little over-storied but still quite enjoyable thanks to my 3 favorite characters. Logan was still the bad boy that you wish you could hate but still loved, Veronica was again driven to find the answers to a crime that affected her life and Keith was still as lovable as ever. I still think Kristen Bell deserves an emmy for the season finale (which I still have a few issues with). You know who you are, I want emails next week with thoughts on the season & the finale!!!
Bree-Desperate Housewives. There is no denying that this season the show lost some of its luster, but Marcia Cross’ Bree continued to stand out. When I think back to the show, I see images of Bree. Fixing Rex’s tie in the coffin, drinking herself silly & getting locked in the mall, finally giving up on Andrew, trying to save her annoying daughter. I hear season 3 will start a few months after the last season finale & will hopefully have a little tighter storytelling and some more humor!!
Edie Falco/ James Gandolfini- The Sopranos. Falco should be given every award in existence for the episodes that dealt with the aftermath of Tony’s shooting. Gandolfini was superb as a man with a second chance on life, trying desperately not to lose the belief that every day is a gift. Some thought this season was slow, but I enjoyed it & am looking forward to the ultimate conclusion.
Everwood-This was a solid season, dealing with a lot of issues that don’t tidy up pretty. Cancer, infidelity, becoming a widow, love triangles, addiction, adoption, and teenage popularity. I will definitely miss the show next season, stoopid CW! I put a curse on the Monday at 9 timeslot!!! In addition, the fans of this show rock. They all chipped in a got a Ferris Wheel plopped in the middle of Burbank as a dedication to the show (for those of you that are not Everwood watchers, a ferris wheel has a lot of meaning to the show’s central characters Amy & Ephram).
In other tv news, this summer has provided some compelling tv. This season of Rescue Me has been mind blowing. It really is amazing how well the writers can blend comedy & drama so well together. Of course there have been a few storylines that have been over the top & have made me wonder if the writers are smoking crack.
Project Runway has been a tad infuriating this year. The judges’ decision have left me flabberghasted. How is Allison gone but Vincent and Angela still there? These 2 should have been the first 2 eliminated! This show is getting shady. They better watch themselves, or they will lose all credibility. My early favorite is Michael.
A little bit of casting news for you, Chris Pratt from Everwood (Bright) will join the O.C. for a multi-episode arc—he’ll be a possible new love interest for Summer.
In other straight up gossip, I can’t believe that Kate Hudson is leaving the Black Crowes dude! I was upset enough, then I heard that she was leaving him for Owen Wilson! Why all of this infidelity! It drives me bonkers! So sad.
On a final note, I happened to see a few summer movies this year. To make this short & sweet, I liked The Devil Wears Prada (Meryl Streep needs an Oscar), hated Pirates of the Carribean (wanted to yank my eyeballs out of my head) and thoroughly enjoyed Talladega Nights (I think it could be enjoyed by all, but there were special jokes in there for us Nascar fans).
And that’s all folks! I’m at BMS with no internet access (again) so odds are that I’ll also be writing up my London/France & Vegas trip reports up shortly!

Emmy's=Dumb
Hey kids! Before I start on my annual “I hate the Emmy’s Rant” I wanted to comment on Justin’s new single “Sexy/Back”. It is a little crazy. First off, the vocals don’t sound anything like the Justin we are used to. He actually has a little JC sound to him. I don’t know how to explain it, kinda how JC sounded so different on “Shake it”. Oohhh and he curses! Lil Juju all grows up! Overall I like it after a few listens, it is pretty different (for Justin) but it definitely has that Timbaland beat that is familiar (kinda like how when the Neptunes were HoT all the songs sounded a little familiar but were different for the actual artist?) Anyhoo, I could definitely see this song being a big dance song at the clubs….I guess we’ll see when I’m out dancing my little heart out in Vegas. By the way, Justin’s new record will drop September 12. And allegedly JC’s first single will drop in August (if you could see me as I’m typing, you’d see that not only am I NOT holding my breath, I’m also rolling my eyes).
Ok everybody, it is time for me to rip apart the jack asses that vote on the emmy’s! It was such a big deal this year, ooohhhh the nomination process is different, new faces will get in, the emmy’s will finally be relevant! What a bunch of donkey dung. Sure I was surprised when I saw this list, I was surprised that for such an amazing year of tv that this list could be so unimpressive! I think there were 3 names that made me happy, the rest of the time my jaw was on the ground. So of course, I’ve listed out the categories and nominees and in a week or two I’ll do Year in Review for the 2005-2006 tv season and talk about the people, shows & storylines that I thought were outstanding.
Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Larry David as Himself
The King Of Queens
Kevin James as Doug Heffernan
Monk
Tony Shalhoub as Adrian Monk
The Office
Steve Carell as Michael Scott
Two And A Half Men
Charlie Sheen as Charlie Harper
Three glaring omissions in this category. Where is Jason Bateman of my dearly departed Arrested Development? I know you are all sick, sick, sick of me talking about this show but that just means that you are too thick to get it! (although I still love you)…
No Zach Braff? For the love of God Scrubs was kicking ass this year!! Although truthfully, this would not have stung so much if either Donald Faison (Turk) or John C. McGinley (Dr. Cox) had finally gotten recognized. But we’ll discuss supporting actor later. And finally, Jason Lee. He is the heart & soul of My Name is Earl and he deserved a nomination. I’m hoping for Steve Carell to take this one home. Charlie Sheen? Are we serious? CHARLIE SHEEN!! Ugh!!!
Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
Christopher Meloni as Detective Elliot Stabler
Rescue Me
Denis Leary as Tommy Gavin
Six Feet Under
Peter Krause as Nate Fisher
24
Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer
The West Wing
Martin Sheen as President Josiah Bartlet
Yawn. So bored with Martin Sheen. Thank God the frikkin West Wing is over and I’ll never have to worry about the stupid cast getting all these nominations. Bah! Happy moment #1 came when I saw that Denis Leary was nominated for Rescue Me. That’s awesome. Umm, no James Gandolfini? No Hugh Laurie? WTF!! And on a sentimental note, it would have been so lovely if Ephram or Dr. Brown of Everwood were recognized since the CW is stoopid and cancelled the most heartfelt show on tv.
Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series
The Comeback
Lisa Kudrow as Valerie Cherish
Malcolm In The Middle
Jane Kaczmarek as Lois
The New Adventures Of Old Christine
Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Christine Campbell
Out Of Practice
Stockard Channing as Lydia Barnes
Will & Grace
Debra Messing as Grace
Ok this category is just flippin re-donk-u-lous. I didn’t watch The Comeback so I can’t really comment on that, but this category reminds me of a related issue with the American Voting Process. Enter Dumbass Citizen. I go to my local voting booth on election day. I have no idea about the policies or issues or work of any of these candidates. I go in. Hey! I know that name! And that is the button that I push. God I love democracy. Same exact situation here. No knowledge of any work or merit, they saw a few familiar names and Voila!!!!
In addition, I wasn’t the biggest Desperate Housewives fan this year, but wow, no nominations! Wasn’t 99% of the cast nominated last year? The nomination the show did get this year is laughable! So yeah, I want to say that Marcia Cross (Bree) was absolutely robbed.
Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series
The Closer
Kyra Sedgwick as Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson
Commander In Chief
Geena Davis as Mackenzie Allen
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
Mariska Hargitay as Detective Olivia Benson
Six Feet Under
Frances Conroy as Ruth Fisher
The West Wing
Allison Janney as C.J. Cregg
Big surprise here, I have some major issues with this category too. It was Six Feet Under’s last season…Ruth was not the most intriguing character and definitely not the castmember that stood out. I shan’t even mention the last one, can’t BELIEVE she’s still getting nominated, and I have some Geena Davis issues as well. The whole thing is pointless anyway because the two most deserving female actresses are not on this list. Edie Falco won the emmy in the very beginning of the season when Tony was shot. She was amazing and could act circles around these other women—well, I do like Kyra. Also, and I know you’ve been waiting for this, but Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars) makes that show. She is so amazing that you get so completely pulled into that show. She destroyed me during the finale. Wow.
Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series
Arrested Development
Will Arnett as Gob Bluth
Entourage
Jeremy Piven as Ari Gold
Malcolm In The Middle
Bryan Cranston as Hal
Two And A Half Men
Jon Cryer as Alan Harper
Will & Grace
Sean Hayes as Jack
My second happy moment. If I close my eyes, deep inside I know that I will forgive the emmy’s every misstep this year if Will Arnett wins this one. Hello, Gob? One of the best characters on tv…ever….ever….ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Except for the Piv, the other nominees are soooo over!!!! Oh no! Breakdown moment! Ectasy for Gob! Indignation at the absence of Turk and Dr. Cox! And as I’ve been watching The Office over the summer, that dude that plays Dwight is AWESOmE! “Ryan started the fire!!!” And a moment of silence for Neil Patrick Harris. He also got robbed. How awesome this category could have been. Gob, Ari, Dwight, Dr. Cox, Turk and Barney. Oh lordy, it could have been…wait for it, wait for it….Legendary…..
Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series
Boston Legal
William Shatner as Denny Crane
Huff
Oliver Platt as Russell Tupper
The Sopranos
Michael Imperioli as Christopher Moltisanti
24
Gregory Itzin as President Charles Logan
The West Wing
Alan Alda as Arnold Vinick
I’m impressed to see President Logan on here. He deserves to win. I love Christafuh, but really, he wasn’t a stand out this season. The rest of the group…ZZZZZZZZZZZ. By the way, I feel this is a good time to point out that Lost was denied this year. Zero nominations, after winning best drama last year! Plus, I think Mr. Ecko should have been nominated.
Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Cheryl Hines as Cheryl David
Desperate Housewives
Alfre Woodard as Betty Applewhite
My Name Is Earl
Jaime Pressly as Joy
Weeds
Elizabeth Perkins as Celia Hodes
Will & Grace
Megan Mullally as Karen
Happy Moment #3. The most deserving woman in this category and a true to surprise to see actually on the list, Jaime Pressly. She is stupendous as Earl’s white trash ex wife. Brillaint! She must win! And really, are we serious that the single nomination that DH got was for Alfre Woodard? Puh-lease.
Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series
Boston Legal
Candice Bergen as Shirley Schmidt
Grey’s Anatomy
Sandra Oh as Cristina Yang
Grey’s Anatomy
Chandra Wilson as Dr. Bailey
Huff
Blythe Danner as Izzy Huffstodt
24
Jean Smart as First Lady Martha Logan
Jean Smart should win on the merits of her fist 24 scene when she dunked her head into the sink---that was kick ass. And so was the first lady.
Outstanding Comedy Series
Arrested Development • FOX
Curb Your Enthusiasm • HBO
The Office • NBC
Scrubs • NBC
Two And A Half Men • CBS
Ooooh Torn. It would be sweet it AD got the emmy. Oh how I would love to see the whole crew up there. But wowie zowie, Scrubs might actually get some respect if it won. Note: if Two and a Half Men win, I will throw my tv out the window!!!
Umm, entourage? Anyone?
Outstanding Drama Series
Grey’s Anatomy • ABC
House • FOX
The Sopranos • HBO
24 • FOX
The West Wing • NBC
How do you nominate House or The Sopranos and not the leading men that both respective shows lay on? Yeah, not getting that one. 24 was so frikkin kick ass this year, it better win. But I’m going to guess that super trendy Grey’s Anatomy will take it. Can you believe that the show that won last year (Lost) is not even nominated? What the crap is wrong with these people!!
Anyhoo, I’m out. I’ll work on a list of people who deserved recognition and get back to you.
KT Update..Season Finales..Wah Everwood!!
Hey there everyone! Before we get to the Tv Season Wrap Up, I want to say tell you that I’m going to London! And Paris! In 13 days! How frikkin insane is that? I’ve been a little sad because New Orleans fell through in January and I’m not really going anywhere on my “Places to Go” list this year. We decided on Aruba for the honeymoon so we could relax. But after the West Coast Adventure last year I’ve been aching to go somewhere new & explore! I’ve been itching to go to Europe for a while and now, thanks to Verispan (yay! I *heart* Verispan!) I’ll get to go to Paris & London, basically for free. How kick ass is that? I was a bit disappointed that I’d have to go exploring on my own—with the wedding coming there isn’t too much extra cash lying around, so that pretty much took Jay & my mom out of the running. And my A-1 travel companion, Michael, is already booked solid this summer! So I was planning on going it alone, when Jessica (those of you that know her, know her as the midwestern chic who loves Iowa) said she’d meet me in London! Yahoo! And she has friends in London & Paris! So now we will get to be incognito tourists too! I’m pretty excited, especially since Jessica is as much, if not more, of a trip research/planner as I am! I can’t wait to report back to you! One minus though, I am a tad bit petrified of the 7 ½ hour flight over the Atlantic—EEEEEEE!
Now on to tv!!
24- Quite enjoyable, as usual. Jack saved the day & avenged the deaths of Palmer, Tony & Michelle. Interesting ending, Jack being taken back to China on a cargo ship. So what does that mean for next year? We will join Jack after he has been returned from China? Obviously he can’t be in China at the start of the show, it would take him 18 hours to get back! But yeah, another stellar year from the 24 crew.
Everwood—Damn you CW! I still can’t believe that Everwood was past over in favor of 7th Heaven & One Tree Hill. I have to say that this may be one of the best series finales I’ve ever seen. Most shows have a tendency to let you down with a series finale, others tie everything up so happy that it is unrealistic, some make you feel content and have some amazing moments, and some make you cry the whole way through damning the idiotic network that canceled it. It was just amazing. There were so many awesome moments, and this show, that was all about relationships showed you how far each character had come since the show began. I love how Andy & Ephram’s relationship has evolved, I love how Bright telling Hannah to go to Notre Dame proved that he deserved another chance and ultimately led to Hannah choosing Colorado. I love that Delia got a pony! I love drunk Amy! I love Scott Wolf making me teary in airports! (I did have a teensy issue with Nina accepting Andy’s proposal only days after she & Jake called it quits, but it was so happy I didn’t care!) Best moment, of course, was Amy busting out the grand gesture to profess her love for Ephram, who never stopped loving, not even for a second. I loved it all. And next year, 2 months into the fall season when the CW has cancelled whatever ridiculous show, I will think sadly to myself that they should have known and kept my friends from Everwood on.
How I Met Your Mother—I think this show snuck in and became my favorite. I think the cast has outstanding chemistry, they constantly make me laugh out loud and Neil Patrick Harris better get an emmy nomination so help me! Suit up!!
Prison Break—Ok so I was supremely pissed off after the fall finale. Jay insisted that we watch it when it came back midseason and we did. I’ll admit it, there were some good eps. But that ending, for the love of God, I just can’t… “We Run…” Bah! There are 20 police cars within feet of you and you are gonna run? I did give the show credit for having Dr. Sara OD, but I heard that she’s going to survive so it is not as ballsy as it would have been if she were really dead.
Veronica Mars—Wow, another stellar season. I really need to discuss the season finale with all of you that will watch season 2 as soon as it is released in August. Please remember to call me after you watch it because I have much to discuss. And as always, I love logan.
The Amazing Race—I heard some people didn’t like the hippies but I thought they were rather amusing. Luck definitely played a role this year as the hippies came in last twice-both times non-elimination rounds. I do feel kinda bad that the frat boys didn’t win since they dominated all season, but I’m definitely happy that BJ & Tyler won.
Lost—Answers, and new questions. What will next season be? We will focus on the Others? Will Desmond be a series regular? What the heck happened to Locke & Ecko? Why did the Others write those particular names on the list? I enjoyed the finale & I’ll keep on watching next year.
Alias—Another series finale. Alias will always make me a bit sad because it had so much potential but the stoopid network get involved and messed it up for everyone involved. I thought the finale was fairly good. Syd got herself a happy ending & I got to see me some Sark-a-liscous. Although it does kinda suck that Jack got blown up, at least she named the kid Jack.
Survivor—I was so afraid Danielle was gonna win. Two weeks in I heard that a gambling site had close betting on the winner because too many bets were coming in for Danielle. I think that if Ciere had defeated Danielle in the fire challenge it would have been a more interesting final two no matter who ended up there—Aras vs. Terry, Terry vs Ciere, Ciere vs Aras. Definitely would have made for a more tense tribal. Overall enjoyable though.
Desperate Housewives—Some storylines were nicely wrapped up and we did get some leads on next year. This show is only so-so for me now a days, it’ll have to do some work in order for me to stay on as a viewer all next season.
That’s all for now folks! I’ll be back with some gossip and outstanding performances/storylines from this season later—maybe I’ll write it up on my 7 ½ hour flight over the Atlantic! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
