Hey everyone! This weekend Jay & I will be in Atlanta (hopefully the Mets will remember how to win a game) and then Wednesday I’m off to California for a week; so I wanted to peak my head in for a quick update. I’ve got some tv news & also thoughts on Britney’s new music.
The casting news keeps rolling in! Danica McKellar (an all grown up Winnie Cooper) and Busy Phillips (Dawson’s Creek, Freaks & Geeks) will be fighting it over Ted on How I Met Your Mother.
The next season of Dancing with the Stars will include: Marie Osmond, Jennie Garth, Jane Seymour, Mark Cuban, Wayne Newton & Scary Spice!!
Hooray! Matt & Trey have signed on to do 3 more seasons of South Park for a ridiculous amount of money.
If you’ve been reading my updates for a while then you should know who Tim Minear is. No? Can’t remember. Well he’s the fella that was responsible for Drive, The Inside and Wonderfalls and collaborated with The Whedon on Firefly & Angel. As you can see, Fox put a stake through all of Minear’s tv projects, most of them lasting about 5 episodes. (booo Fox) Anyhoo, Minear has a new project & he is taking it to ABC (yaaaay!). Miracle Man revolves around "a disgraced former televangelist, a man of no faith, who finds that God is using him to perform real miracles and change lives, starting with his own." That sounds like a Tim Minear project. Anyhoo, it is all in early development but I’m pretty excited to see that someone who continues to product quirky television I enjoy (even if I am in the minority) will not let stupid television networks (yeah fox) & viewers keep him down. Here’s hoping Minear casts fan favorite Nathan Fillion in the project and that it will be a successful show (keeping my fingers crossed but not holding my breath) .
In other buffyverse related news, Fox has just signed Eliza Dushku to a television deal. If I was Eliza I’d tell Fox to go scratch after the way they handled Tru Calling, but I guess a girl’s gotta work. The deal pretty much means that Fox will create projects for Dushku. Hopefully she’ll get a great tv show that I can enjoy for a few years. I just realized that there is no show on tv right now that I am fully emotionally involved in. No Buffy, no Angel, no Everwood, no Alias, no Sex & the City, no Veronica Mars (wahhhhh). This is depressing! My two favorite shows right now are How I Met Your Mother and Brothers & Sisters. Both of which I really enjoy, neither of which really has me emotionally involved (although I am dangerously close on B&S). I just looked over my tv schedule and Tuesday is completely open for me—which is fitting since Tuesday is the day of Buffy & Veronica (and Angel did a stint there too). Perhaps I will proclaim Tuesday DVD TV night & I will watch some of my dearly departed favorites. I do have quite a few, of course the Whedon collection, but also Arrested Development, Freaks & Geeks, Roswell & Alias. Moving on………
Reports are still running rampant that Britney will be performing at the VMA’s (which by the way, MTV is planning on airing only once in hopes of bringing up viewership). Supposedly illusionist Criss Angel is going to be in the performance as well and…actually, I’ll keep that to myself. I don’t want to ruin the surprise in case she does perform. Also, Perez Hilton has gotten a hold of 2 new Britney tracks (you can check them out at Perez.hilton.com). The first track, Gimme More, is allegedly her big comeback single. It is not bad. I listened to it twice and I found my toe tapping during the second listen. But, ehhh. I don’t know. It didn’t make me want to get up and dance. Perhaps all of this cartoonish living has affected how I feel about Brit’s music? Possibly, cause I frikkin hated Cold as Ice. The sound of her voice sent chills down my spine and it took quite a bit of self control to actually let the entire song play. So, check out the VMA’s next Sunday. If Britney shows, either her performance will be kick ass & she will quiet all the naysayers or she will be a complete & total mess which might be even more entertaining! Either way, I’m sure it will be worth your time to check it out! I’ll chime in with my thoughts after the show!!!

KT Update-Casting Scoop!
Hello!
Wow. August has been dragging on. It is hot, hot, hot, (did I mention frakkin HOT) in NC. For 24 consecutive days it has been over 90 and usually hitting 100. I need a pool! Anyhoo, you haven’t come here to hear me bitch! You've come for scoop and lucky you, I have some.
Let's starting with casting scoop. A couple weeks back rumors were floating around that Kristen Bell of the now defunct Veronica Mars (screw you CW!) was up for a guest stint on Lost. Then, just as quickly as the news came, was new word that Kristen had passed up Lost. I was pretty bummed until I heard this week that Kristen would join Heroes in October! Yay! This is excellent news since: 1) I won't have to wait until January for my current favorite tv actress to hit the screen; and 2) she's gonna be bad! Or sorta bad at least, I guess we won't know for certain until her episodes air. Fun times!
Another favorite of mine, James Marsters, will join Without a Trace for a few episodes. Too bad I hate procedural dramas & I won't see him. But I'm glad he's working!
In other casting news, Janeane Garefalo (I'm sure I destroyed her name) will join the cast of 24 and Paul Reubans a.k.a Pee Wee Herman will guest on the most buzzed about fall show, Pushing Daisies.
So have you guys been watching VH-1 this summer? I frikkin love VH-1. I've been watching Rock of Love all summer & it just gets trashier and trashier. I love every minute! In case you haven't been watching, the women have divided themselves into 2 groups, the bitches and the sluts and then Brett Michaels proceeds to make out with all of them. It is so awesome, you definitely need to tune in!
And, I just found Man Band. Holy crap, how did I miss this show? I've only missed two episodes, but that's two episodes too much! Don't know what the heck I'm talking about? Vh-1 put Chris Kirkpatrick (*Nsync), Bryan Abrams (Color Me Badd), Jeff Timmons (98 Degrees) and Rich Cronin (LFO) into a house & tried to squeeze some music out of them. I only saw one episode, but Bryan was all fat & drunk. Actually, they all look a wee bit out of shape (except for the 98 degrees dude). They were learning a new song & were going to perform at the Orlando Magic half time show even though they only learned the song 2 days prior! It is hilarious! Although at times, it is a little upsetting because you see just how badly these boys want music careers back (damn you timberlake!!!) But so far I'm enjoying it. Check it out on VH1, Mondays at 10.
Speaking of timberlake, I've heard through the grapevine that JuJu was not getting a warm reception on the european leg of his tour. Apparently JT was being a big ass and being were reporting that he was a rude jerk. In addition, my favorite celeb blogger, Perez, is reporting that Lance is a big jerk too! Nooo! What is this world coming to, Lance was always the sweet one. I guess since he came out he is letting his inner diva loose. Apparently, some girls saw Lance in a bar in LA and went up to say hi and Lancey-poo was very rude to the young ladies. My heart is breaking! What's happened to my boys? JC's record is still on hold, Joey has been reduced to game show host, Chris is on a sad (yet hilarious) reality show and Lance & Justin are dicks? Booooooo. I'm started to make myself depressed. Let's talk about something a little more cheery?
Ever since I broke up with Britney I've started enjoying her downward spiral. In case you haven't heard (if you've been living under a rock) K-Fed has started the war for the kids! His lawyer has been serving all of Britney's friends/nannies/assistants with subpoena's. Oh and supposedly to escape all of the backlash Brit has run off to Europe!!! Oh goodness, it just gets better & better. Love it. Oh and there are rumors that Britney will be performing at the VMA's. I can't tell if it is a trick by MTV so that people will tune in to see the train wreck that once was Britney or if it is true. Timbaland is maestro or something (I told you, I'm old, I don't watch MTV anymore, didn't you read? I'm a VH1 girl now) and he said that as far as he knows, there will be no Britney. I did hear however that Juju will be taking the stage with Madonna. Madonna needs to come out and rock the VMA stage. Who cares if she is 49? She is a living legend and I think she can work it still. The VMA's are Sept 9. I'll try to watch the show & report back, but honestly, I probably won't know 1/2 of the nominees.
And lastly, I'm doomed to hate this year's emmy's as Ryan Secrest has been named the host. Really? Ugh. I'm dreading watching this, not only will no one I like win, I have to deal with Secrest. BAH!
