KT Update-TV is Giving Me Heartburn!

Ya know, this CW thing is really starting to upset my stomach. What the crap is all this crap that now Veronica Mars will PROBABLY be on the schedule next year? WHAT?

And Everwood is on the bubble? Wha Wha? On top of all this wishy-washness about next year, UPN has moved Veronica Mars to Tuesday! Frikkin Tuesdays (starting April 11)! My Tuesdays at 9 are already full! Hello! Scrubs & House & The Unit! What the crap am I going to do on Tuesdays now? My Thursdays at 9 are wide open, can’t you move it there? Boo Booo Boooooo!

As if all of this wasn’t enough to give me heartburn for a week, this morning comes news that Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz decided he doesn’t want to continue the show! What the Frikk!!! Are these people trying to kill me?? I’m so depressed that it is 99.9% certain that I will not have another new bluth episode. Wahhhhh! I can’t take it anymore.

The only good news from me today is that “How I met your Mother” got picked up for next season. At least one thing in this update is steak sauce (sorry, I’m too depressed to explain all they barney-isms.)

What else? Alias finally comes back Apr 9, Everwood made its return last night (although I did not watch it, I was with Jack Bauer).

I’m still eh-eh about Prison Break. I just don’t care anymore, cause I know they’ll keep finding ways to delay the execution, that no matter what Michael will never get caught snooping around the grounds, that something will always be in there way to escaping. I did hear that next week’s episode was great, as you get a Lost-esque glimpse into what brought the main characters to the prison. Odds are, I’ll be watching “How I Met Your Mother” in the bedroom. I am dangerously close to breaking up with this show.

Quick movie news, I heard today that Oceans 13 will be coming our way next year. Ugh. Really? I don’t know how I feel about this, movie no. 3 will be sans Julia Roberts.

On the netflix circuit, I recently viewed “Good Night & Good Luck” which I thought was outstanding. And for a moment, it made me think of all the greatness television could accomplish if we used it to communicate and educate and stimulate our minds rather than just to entertain ourselves. I’m the first to admit I am a slave to my tv, but I do try to find shows (mostly) that will require my mind. And I would definitely be in favor of a weekly news program that really educated the public rather than just tried to scare us and/or brainwash us in between commercial breaks. (steps off soapbox)

Finally I want to take a moment to discuss The Sopranos. I think that it has been stellar thus far and I’m really looking forward to see the shit hit the fan now that tony is awake. Yippeeee!

That’s all folks. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep up these semi-regular updates!

KT Update-Back In Action!!!

Wow. There hasn’t been a KT update I almost two months! This work thing has got to stop! I have so much to discuss!

Let’s start off with the Oscars. Thanks to netflix I’ve seen and am in the process of seeing a number of Oscar contenders. At this point I’ve seen: Crash, Brokeback Mountain, Walk the Line, Hustle & Flow, and Wallace & Grommitt the Curse of the Were-Rabbit. Right now at home I have A History of Violence, Cinderella Man & Good Night and Good Luck. So let’s talk about the big controversy first, the fact that Crash won. I have a really hard time believing that it was some kind of conspiracy that Brokeback lost. I think that once Crash came out on dvd it started to get buzz and that the buzz on Brokeback had peaked by the time voting happened. As someone who saw both movies, I would have voted for Crash. I thought it was phenomenal, and I thought it deserved the Oscar. This is not a new thing, a surprise win. Remember when Saving Private Ryan came out and everyone was shocked that Shakespeare in Love took Best Picture? It happens.

Although I haven’t seen all the films, I think that Reese Witherspoon was a little over-hyped. She was good in Walk the Line, and she is definitely one of the things that stands out about the film, but I didn’t see that performance and think, she needs the oscar….like I did when I saw the Sixth Sense…Haley Joel Osment, needed the Oscar, he was awesome (and of course denied which proves that….)

The Oscars are sometimes crap. Sometimes they don’t give awards to the most deserving, they give them to their favorites, or to someone who should have won years ago or as an award for a year of work, not just a single performance (yeah you George Clooney).

I thought the show was ridiculous with all the montages, and that it is an awards show and people who win should be given ample time to make their thank yous. I also thought that Jon Stewart got the job done.

Fashion, I can’t even really remember fashion, I think I liked Reese & Michelle Williams & Jessica Alba….oh and Nicole Kidman but it wasn’t anything like…OMG! That is the outfit!!!

Moving on…(cut me some slack I’ve got a lot to get through)….

Prison Break returns tonight. Honestly, this premiere is going to have to be SPECTACULAR to win me back. I’d much rather be watching Barney SUIT UP over on “How I met your mother”.

Speaking of winning me back, I kinda drifted away from the Sopranos last season but I have to say that I’ve been captivated by the first two episodes of the season. What’s gonna happen to Uncle Junior? Will Tony have long last implications (physically) if he survives? Who is gonna kill each other first…Paulie? Silvio? Christopha? The fat guy that’s not as fast? Is everyone gonna blame Bobby Bacala for being at home with his trains rather than taking care of uncle junior? Will AJ man up and seek vengeance against his uncle? EEEEEE! What happens when tony comes back to life and wants his power back? It is just too much. Oh and don’t kid yourself. That emmy is already Edie Falco’s.

As far as drama tv goes the only thing that has me in more of a tizzy than the sopranos is 24. For the love of god are you trying to kill me? First you knock of Edgar (which I was kinda happy about) but then you make me feel bad about it. And the very next episode you kill Lynn McGill (going out as a hero, with his lil legs twitching) and SOUL PATCH TONY! He didn’t get to have Soul Patch Vengence! How the crap does the bad guy fake a coma and then garner enough strength to kill soul patch with a syringe! Boooooooo! Soul Patch should have gone out like a hero! Although there was some emotional payoff as jack bauer broke down in tears as soul patch died in his arms. I’m saying, I think Jack Bauer may commit suicide before the season is through. All his friends are dead and his daughter is so self involved she can’t give her dad a hug? This is the worst day ever for him! I’d say this may beat finding Terri shot to death in a backroom of CTU. Yeah so good riddance Kim! You suck!

I think Fox has it right. Hold off on the power hour until Jan and then it is not stop jack bauer. I have to say I have no idea what happened last time on Lost and I think it is starting to affect my attitude towards the show. Although that Claire episode was pretty rad.

Everwood finally comes back next week! (hooray) And Alias is set to return sometime in April.

For all of you that are wondering what the fate of your favorite WB show is, you’ll only have to wait a few weeks more. Word is that One Tree Hill & Related are done. Everwood is hanging on by a thread, Smallville & Gilmore Girls are good. If Veronica Mars doesn’t get picked up I will go to the new WC studios and burn it down.

I watched one new midseason show, The Unit. It is really not that impressive (I know I’m selling it) but it is Scott Foley and you know I have to support my Noel. Plus he’s all hot and buff and military. Nice. And it is fun to see Pres. Palmer do his best Jack Bauer impersonation.

Finally, there has been much, much controversy about South Park. I kinda think (hope) this is all a big hoax to drum up publicity for the new season. I have new reason to believe in my (wishful thinking) theory. Today Fox News reported that Isaac Hayes has been recovering from a stroke and did not issue the original statement about his departure from the show. Also, Hayes was on Opie & Anthony a while back and said he had no problem with the Scientology episode. Plus, is Tom Cruise that much of a dick (yes, actually) that he would have Comedy Central pull a cartoon comedy? I’ll guess we’ll find out this Wednesday when Comedy Central airs the season premiere of South Park, entitled “The Return of Chef”.

So that’s all kiddies. I’ll be back to report my oscar film reviews once I’ve finished netflixing them all.
