Hello!!! Happy summer to everyone. So, not too much is going on, but I did hear some tv scoopage today that made my heart flutter. My favorite british baddie (non-vampire of course) Sark-a-liscious is going to be on Heroes next year! Yay! I hope they give him an accent because he wasn’t as excited on Grey’s Anatomy when he was accent-less.
So yes, that made me happy and I had to share. Also, there is some interesting movement on the Veronica Mars front. Creator Rob Thomas has not been shy about saying that he has more Veronica stories to tell and his first instinct was to go to movies. Now it looks like VM might be headed the way of Buffy, to a comic book store near you. Obviously, I would be pleased with any re-incarnation of the VM crew, but I feel like a comic book would not satisfy me. With buffy it is different, the show had 7 seasons, and we all knew it was coming to a close; plus we had closure with the finale. With VM, I think the comics might just make me more sad that this is not on tv. But again, anything is better than nothing. Oh, and I want to reiterate my banishment of the CW. I’ve heard from some of you that you may actually watch the network again next year because there are some shows that look good. Um, why? So I get sucked in only for them to be canceled? I say bah to you CW! I shan’t watch channel no matter what you do!!!!
While we are on the subject of TV, I’m sure you’ve all heard by now that Isaiah Washington’s contract with Grey’s has not been renewed. I have some mixed feelings about this. Obviously there was still some tension on the set and I’m sure for the vibe of the cast it is a good move, but, is it what’s best for the show? Despite how I feel for the man playing the role, I really enjoyed the character of Dr. Burke. I’m a newbie to this show. I’ve watched all three seasons this year & I have to say that most of the characters that I’ve really connected with in the past have gotten on my nerves. You know how I feel about the George-Izzy thing. Meredith is pathetic and they have got to stop making her life so depressing. When did Bailey get all soft? Wait, didn’t I have this rant already? Well, you get the point, I liked Burke and I’m sad to see him leave. Especially since it seems that Washington won’t be around to tie up any loose ends. We’re just supposed to believe that Preston Burke leaves all of his friends, family & patients behind so easily? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Since summer is here & I only have 2 summer tv shows (The 4400 & Rescue Me); Jay & I have been netflix-ing it up (in between Jay’s new nightly ritual of screaming obscenities at his beloved TV because the Mets are in one hell of a slump). Anyhoo, here are some little reviews brought to you by netflix:
Roll Bouce-This movie is awesome. I’ve been wanting to see it for a long time and I finally got around to it. I could say a lot about this movie, but let’s just leave it at “Rollerskating” and “disco”. Hello!
The Family Stone- Generally I enjoy those “wacky family comedies” and at first I was enjoying this one, but blech! The ending completely ruined it for me. I mean, really? Are we serious? I know you have to suspend reality to watch certain movies but this was a little too much for me.
DreamGirls-Enjoyable. I didn’t love it, but I thought it was good. Jennifer Hudson did do an outstanding job. I would like to see the performances of the other supporting actress nominees to see how I feel about her win.
An Inconvenient Truth-I was one of those students who knew what I wanted to be involved in when I grew up. From about 7th grade on, I wanted to be involved with the environment. Then, when I got to college, two things pulled from that path. 1) Bio is frikkin hard at Rutgers (and at 8am on Friday) and 2) The environmental policy is frustrating. You could have all the evidence in the world that something is happening and the world is just going to ignore you until it slaps them in the face. That’s pretty much the theme of this movie. It is pretty ridiculous how much evidence there is of global warming, how much we contribute to it, and how devastating the consequences will be. Yet we continue to drive around in our fuel deficient vehicles completely oblivious to what is going on around us.
Kidnapped-I hate you NBC! This show was on the air last year and pulled after 4 or 5 eps. The good news is, NBC kept telling them they’d have enough episodes to finish the season, which they did-although the network never aired the eps, but—at least there will be a resolution. I’m enjoying it immensely on DVD and will update you after we have finished the series.
Next up from Netflix:
Kidnapped Disc 2
Breach
Transamerica
Summer Movie Mania
Poor Jay. He is in over his head. He has been forced to be more summer movie buddy. I think he said that usually he sees 2 or 3 summer movies a year. We’ve seen 2 already & I’m dragging him to Fantastic Four next week. Here’s what I thought of the 2 we’ve seen already:
Knocked Up: Hilarious. Loved the cast, loved seeing all the familiar faces from F&G. I can’t believe the shoebomber was Bill Haverchuck!
Oceans 13. I thought it had the same vibe as the first one, but was a little more confusing. Overall I enjoyed it.
Ok kiddies, that’s all for now. I’ll be back in a few weeks with some more netflix updates.

Wow, I'm really behind on posts, but I'd just like to say that I LOVE ROLL BOUNCE!!! Gotta love Sweetness! Ha! People look at me weird when I say this is a great movie, but even Greg was hysterically laughing and secretly enjoying it.
