Hey kids. Fall season is in full swing and my poor tivo is in overdrive!!! Before I get into some reviews, I’ve got some gossip to spill.
Continuing the tradition of bringing back 80’s-90’s tv stars back from oblivion, Veronica Mars will be graced with Richard Greico for a multi-episode arc. Oohhh, I wonder if he’ll be sporting that leather jacket that I remember from his Jumpstreet days.
In other casting news, Tori Spelling will do a brief stint on Smallville as a gossip columnist at the Daily Planet with some superpowers.
-----We interrupt this update to bring you BREAKING NEWS--- I’ve just received an email from AOL, it is a first listen to JC’s new single, Until Yesterday. JC has decided to take advantage of the JT heat, and has his former bandmate on as producer. I have to say. I really didn’t like it. I feel like JC’s team or whoever is in charge always picks bad singles. There were so many kick ass songs on his last cd that could have been lead singles and he started off with “Some Girls”. I’m afraid that he is just trying to use the Justin connection to get airplay. Truthfully, I’ve only listened to the song once, so it may grow on me, but as of now, I’m not excited. Sometimes different doesn’t mean better. Either way, I am excited that his single is about to drop, now I’ll get to see him again & that means new record & tour! Yay!—Please come to NC!!! We now return you to your regularly scheduled KT Update------
HBO announced that Entourage has been picked up for a 4th season & that unfortunately for Jimmy Norton, Lucky Louie was not picked up. I can’t decide how I feel about this. I feel bad for Lil Jimmy & it was fun to see him on tv each week, plus I thought the show had some outrageously hilarious moments, but, I felt like it took some extra effort on my part to watch the show. If it wasn’t tivo’d I would have missed it every week, usually I sprint to the tv @ 7:59 to watch whatever favorite show tivo has for me.
Finally, it doesn’t fill the hole left in my heart from the cancellation, but Everwood will be replayed on ABC Family. If you never got into this show you should give it a chance. And if you love it, you should tivo all the episodes & then burn them onto dvd’s because only season 1 has been put on dvd.
New TV Reviews
Just in case you forgot, here is my rating scale.
Here’s my rating scale:

** Smallville (I’ll watch it, but it hasn’t made it to my season pass list)
** ½ Prison Break (I hate this show but I can’t stop watching!)
*** Desperate Housewives (One of my tivo shows)
**** 24 (Nothing will keep me from watching this show!!)
New Shows
Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip (NBC, Mon 10)
This is the most hyped show of the new fall season. If you know anything about television, you’ve heard of Aaron Sorkin or one of his shows (Sports Night, The West Wing). Anyhoo, as I mentioned last week, I like Sorkin’s writing because he is the master of fast paced, quick-witted dialogue; he also tells really good stories. I was pretty impressed with Studio 60, I like the dynamic between Matthew Perry & Bradley Whitford (plus it appears Sorkin has given the the two main characters many of his personality traits). I also enjoyed the "inside joke" in the beginning when every newscaster was reporting the same exact story the same exact way. I hope the show won’t get tiring too fast, he did a good job keeping The West Wing interesting for a few years, but America may not care about’s Sorkin’s opinions on the state of television. I’ll continue to watch in the meantime. ***
Brothers & Sisters (ABC, Sun 10)- A pretty impressive roster—Sally Field, Calista Flockhart, Rachel Griffiths, Balthazaar Getty, Patricia Wettig, Ron Rifkin, Tom Skerritt and the infamous Side Mouth Talker from Reunion. Here’s a surprise, this show centers around a family of 5 siblings and their mother. I thought the acting was stellar, the premiere was a little obvious but, the point of a premiere is to set up the series, so although I knew what was going to happen, it had to happen to push forward the show. I liked this show enough to add it right to my season pass list. ***
The Class(CBS, Mon 8:30)-This show is about a guy who gets his 3rd grade class back for a reunion to commemorate the day he met his girlfriend. Trouble is, she thinks he is a freak for getting all these people together & that he is smothering her. So of course she dumps him. Now all these people who haven’t seen each other in 20 years are buddies! Of course! I thought the show was pretty decent but I didn’t have any desire to watch it this week. **
Six Degrees (ABC, Thurs 10)
As I mentioned last week, most of us would recognize the faces on this show, especially Bridget Moynahan, Erica Christenson & Jay Hernadez. The premise of this show is that everyone is connected by 6 people. So you see characters & storylines intersect, sometimes the characters won’t know each other & sometimes they will impact the other characters. I think it is an interesting premise, I just don’t know how long they can keep it up. I thought it was pretty good. I had a hard time believing some of the storylines though. I’ll give it one more shot, but I’m guessing this one won’t make it to the season pass list. **
Men In Trees I still like this show, it is not high drama or comedy, it is cute. And it made it to my season pass list!!!
Returning Shows
The Amazing Race-Holy crazy ass casting Batman! What a wild bunch! A Kentucky coal miner, two single mothers, two recovering addict models ( I love how the show introduces contestants, it really said “recovering addict models” I nearly piddled I laughed so hard)….a pair of unfabulous gay boys, 2 islamic friends (who kept praying, and ended up getting eliminated BEFORE the pit stop—go figure) This year’s bunch is anything but boring. I’ve already dubbed the addict/model boys as my favorites and so far, in my 3 seasons of watching the show my favorite has either won or come in second. So go addict/models!!
The Office—Best Line Ever. “See Kids, sometimes it pays to be gay.” Holy crap, that was the most uncomfortable, hilarious half hour of my life. Watching Michael trying to deal with a gay employee was priceless. OMG, the gaydar? I think I chocked on my ice cream pop for that one. And that kiss? Holy crap. I love the creators of the Office. NBC promoted the Pam/Jim kiss all summer and the storyline took a backseat to the outing of Oscar, the climax of the show—Michael kissing Oscar to prove he was ok with Oscar being gay was frikkin hysterical (and then when Dwight tried to join in). Wow. I can’t believe I ever doubted this show, and I have to say I’m a little sad that I already deleted this episode from my tivo because I kinda wanna go watch it again.
My Name Is Earl—I still enjoy this show, but now that I’m watching the Office this show suffers a little by comparison (especially since they are on back to back).
Prison Break- I want to take this opportunity to say that even though I still find this show completely ludicrous, I’ve been enjoying it more & more. I think I even made it through last week without groaning. I like the individual storylines, but it was fun to see the boys all back together, especially the scene when Michael & Lincoln came upon T-Bag. Oh yeah, I did groan once, what the Frikk Lincoln! You didn’t completely search T-Bag for the map! Amature! I do like the creepy, pill poppin FBI man more & more—he’s so grumpy. And I’m loving the secret service man cozing up to Sara, he’s so much more fun this year! “We can watch Fried Green Tomatoes!”
How I met your mother- What can I say other than I love Barney? When he was going through all the ways to kill himself at Robin & Ted’s PDA? Classic.
Desperate Housewives- I thought the premiere of Season 3 was a step in the right direction. I liked the storylines for Susan & Gabby especially. I have a hard time believing that after everything Bree has been through she would stay with Orson after the bombshell dropped at her engagement party; and I think the Lynnette-Tom-Other Woman storyline is going to get old FAST. But I’m interested again, and that’s always a good thing.
Grey’s Anatomy-Mozz—if you are reading this, I’m ready to give into peer pressure and watch season 1 if you want to let me borrow it. I tivo’d the first ep of season 3 & as long as there is room on my tivo, I’ll keep it.
Survivor Rant: I’m not going to make this long because although I watch Survivor, I do not consider myself a survivor “fan” because they are in a class all their own, but I would like to put my two cents in and seeing as this is my blog….I’m gonna!
The casting this year is SHADY. I was thinking it and then Cindy forwarded me an email from one of her co-workers. Sundra is an actress, in fact, she’s been on Sex & the City. Fans should remember her as the disapproving, chef sister of the hottie black man that Samantha was dating. For me, this cheapens the show. Survivor fans are rabid, and they try repeadily to get on the show Part of the allure of the show is that YOU could be one of these people. YOU have as much of a chance of being on this show as anyone else. But that is not the way things are now. I think I read that 80% of the contestants were recruited. So that means that only 20% were from people who applied to be on the show? Ehhh. I don’t know. It makes me feel all dirty inside, if this continues, I don’t know how much longer I’ll watch the show. I already watch 20 ACTORS pretend to be castaways, it is called Lost.
I have the following shows tivo’d and will report back to you by the end of the week on them!! Kidnapped (NBC, Wed, 10PM); Jericho (CBS, Wed 8PM); Smith (CBS, Tues 10PM); Heroes (NBC, Mon 9PM).
Also premiering this week:
Ugly Betty (ABC, Thurs 8PM)
